They want to continue to be free to shoot themselves in the ass. That does not bother me. It's when they shoot other people in the ass that I get concerned.
You see, what this series of articles I've been posting shows that it is not "criminals" who are the main problem. It is idiots.
We have no plans to stop idiots from getting guns.
Please think of some.
No, the number of firearms-related deaths by homicide far outweighs the accidental deaths.
Reasonable restrictions would include training and licensing just like we do to keep SUVs out of the hands of idiots. That works so well.
Actually, in 2010 there were 8,775 homicides and 19,300+ suicides using guns....which sort of puts to rest the myth that having a gun in your home makes you "safer."
And, no, it would take something more than the placebo of "training." It seems as if every week some cop shoots himself or someone else because he momentarily forgot his training.
Maybe you're right. Maybe we should just ban the fucking things.

Do the suicides bother you Min? I thought you would be happy to see gun nuts shooting themselves.
As far as banning guns goes I'm sorry to let you down but it seems things are going the other direction.

Guns and alcohol. Can't imagine anything wrong with that cocktail.

Suicide isn't accidental, that gun did exactly what the owner wanted it to do in that case. Besides they should be able to kill themselves with a gun if they want to end their life, that's the way I'd do it. Quick and easy.

Allowing guns in bars has always seemed like a bad idea to me. If there's a solid reason to allow this, does anyone here know it?

Guns and alcohol and or drugs is obviously not a good combination. I am not for being under the influence and handling a gun.
However, if I am not drinking I should be able to take it anywhere. Regardless of any law the criminal minded person is going to take a gun anywhere they want anyway. Laws don't prevent bad people from doing bad things. If they did we would be living in a utopia. Laws only effect people that are willing to obey them.

Seriously? In 2010, unintentional firearm injuries caused the deaths of 606 people. That was what I was addressing.

Yet another home invasion by a knife wielding maniac in my town.
Luckily the mother and young son survived relatively unhurt. If only she had a gun she could have ended the threat of this one individual who is still on the loose.

My own personal experience..
When I was 14 I stopped a very violent rape in progress with a rifle. The attacker was beating the girl in the grass on my property. He was a huge man who was a championship boxer (He was a n'er do well neighbor a few houses down the road). Without the rifle I would have had no chance whatsoever of stopping him. After pummeling her in the face several times, he pulled down her pants and was taking his off when I fired into the ground about 5 feet in front of him and to the side.
If he had decided to charge me I would have killed him, I'm quite sure. He was wise not to risk it. Another neighbor, and elderly man, heard the shot and came out with a pistol while his wife called the police. The police showed up in 20 minutes or so. He was arrested and sent to prison. While simply calling the cops would have caught the guy, as I recognized him, it wouldn't have saved the girl from a mentally scarring rape nor saved her from additional horrendous blows to her head.
So how does that fit with the "more restrictions crowd?"

I'd like to hear them comment on that one. They probably won't.
