I doubt it. Canada's gun laws are very similar to Germany's. Plus German civilians have both more guns in raw numbers 25 million versus 10 million, and more guns per person 30 per 100 persons versus 25 per 100 persons than Canadian civilians.

In Germany, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is

2012: 1.014

Compare that to my country, where gun regulations are much more liberal and you get:

In Austria, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is

2011: 2.634

Which is rather in line with Canada.

In Canada, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is

2006: 2.396

But a far cry from the United States

That's not exactly true. Convicted felons cannot.

There is no place to provide a reason for having a license on the application. In Massachusetts, a reason for owning a firearm must be provided on the application.
