I didn't realize that the second amendment was in the Canadian constitution.

I didn't realize that some people are incapable of understanding how a thread devoted to gun nuts doing stupid shit isn't strictly confined to the United States. Much like how Payday (the candy bar) doesn't give me a paycheck (damn!)
Or are you just trying to be a douche?

This thread is "All Hail The Second Amendment". This clearly is an American thing. Now if it was called " All Hail Gun Nuts" I could understand the Canadian story being here.
With that said, are you just trying to be a dumbass?

Let me tell you something, Chas. "Training" is a panacea argument used by people who have nothing else to say. "If only we TRAINED the Iraqi army!" We did train them. For years. They ran like rabbits. No, even trained people have accidents or make careless decisions. When they do so with guns, people die.
Now that is not the case with this nitwit below. He's your classic gun nut who thinks the 'gubmint' is out to get in.
Now he's short one wife!

How is training a panacea? Besides, you didn't address "uneducated, careless fuckwits".

So, that happened in a country with firearms laws that you would applaud as being sufficiently restrictive, I would guess.

I doubt it. Canada's gun laws are very similar to Germany's. Plus German civilians have both more guns in raw numbers 25 million versus 10 million, and more guns per person 30 per 100 persons versus 25 per 100 persons than Canadian civilians.

I'll ignore the fact that you didn't cite a source for those statistics for a moment and get straight to the point: How are those numbers relevant to the conversation?

The best source on firearms and gun crime around the world is this site. Here are the numbers broken down for Germany
http://www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/region/germany
I guess the most important part is this:
Quote: In Germany, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is
2012: 1.014
Compare that to my country, where gun regulations are much more liberal and you get:
Quote: In Austria, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is
2011: 2.634
Which is rather in line with Canada.
Quote: In Canada, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is
2006: 2.396
But a far cry from the United States
Quote: In the United States, the annual rate of all gun deaths per 100,000 population is
2011: 10.318

That's not exactly true. Convicted felons cannot.
There is no place to provide a reason for having a license on the application. In Massachusetts, a reason for owning a firearm must be provided on the application.
