Deputies say a biker was shot in the head during a motorcycle club initiation that turned deadly.

Jeffrey Camarda, 44, of Land O' Lakes, is facing manslaughter charges in the death of Billy Lee McDaniel.

According to the Pasco Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Rock Harley Saloon Sunday night and found McDaniel, 44, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

McDaniel was being initiated into the motorcycle club, and as part of his initiation he was holding a plastic bucket above his head while club members threw cups and bottles into it.

At the same time Camarda was trying to shoot the bucket from McDaniel's head, but deputies said he ended up firing and hitting McDaniel.

You'd think that neither one of them could have reached the age of 44 without knowing that this was a piss-poor idea.

A Rensselaer County transport officer's pistol accidentally fired Tuesday morning inside city police headquarters when inmates were moving to and from City Court, the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office said.

"He was attempting to put his weapon in the holster when it discharged," Sheriff Jack Mahar said.

I just don't buy that all these guns are so poorly made that they keep going off "by themselves."

3-year-old Tenn. boy shoots little brother in the head

A 3-year-old boy somehow got a hold of a gun Tuesday afternoon and shot his little 18-month-old brother in head.

"All of a sudden, a couple of the employees came up to Ms. Brenda, the victim, and they said she noticed at that time she had a sharp pain in her chest," said Police Chief Mark Covington.

Covington said around 8 p.m., 23-year-old Jason Hart was standing on Elm Street, apparently wanting to try out a gun, and fired eight bullets. One went through the wall of the restaurant and hit the woman in the chest.

"He didn't realize what was beyond from where he was shooting, which is something you should know when you fire a firearm. You should know what lies beyond what your shooting at," said Covington.

Westby man shot in head when gun discharges

According to the police report, Schmidt had been drinking for several hours before returning home, consuming more alcohol and arguing with his girlfriend at their Coon Prairie residence. At approximately 1 a.m., the female party departed to go to the restroom, when she heard a gunshot. She returned to find Schmidt laying on the floor bleeding from his head.

Schmidt told law enforcement that the shooting was not intentional and that the loaded handgun had accidentally discharged striking him in the head.

Oh yeah..it just went off, all by itself.

They say they went to the 1400 block of North 13th Street just before 1 p.m., where the 39-year-old said she had taken off the safety off her pistol while handling it.

The gun went off and the woman shot herself in the stomach.

According to the complaint: Vue told police that he was cleaning his Glock 20 handgun that evening. He left the loaded gun on his bed and went to the basement to retrieve cleaning supplies.

"While in the basement, Vue heard gunfire," the complaint said. "Vue ran back to his bedroom and found his 3-year-old son had picked up the gun and fired it into the wall.

After interviewing relatives and neighbors, police received conflicting reports. Some people said Suggs was in her garage trying to shoot a nuisance possum when she accidentally shot herself.

Police say Officer Amerie Norman accidentally discharged a personal weapon while off-duty Monday night. The bullet went through the walls of her home and hit an adult female family member. That woman is expected to be ok. Visalia police say they don't know what led up to the weapon going off.

At the home, 55-year-old Gilbert Earle Teal told police he was watching a YouTube video on how to disassemble and clean a Glock 9mm pistol when he pulled the trigger and accidentally fired a round into his left hand.

Teen stable after apparent accidental shooting

According to police, there were numerous teens in the home when the shooting happened who said the victim accidentally shot himself.

However the victim told police a man wearing a mask entered the home and shot him.

Initially, no one in the home would tell police where the gun was. Police later located the gun, with an obliterated serial number, in a field across from where the shooting happened.

One of the teens admitted to discarding the gun after the victim was accidentally shot.

Police are still investigating whether it was a self-inflicted accidental shooting or an accidental shooting by one of the teens in the home.

Police learned that the 25-year-old victim was allegedly showing two men how to disassemble a handgun at a home in the 700 block of Charles Street when he accidentally shot himself. Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said the victim either unintentionally loaded a round in the chamber, or didn't realize one had already been loaded when the shot was fired.

Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. at 76 Partridge Drive off of Purdy Hill Lane. The resident was in the basement of his home, securing his .9 mm handgun when it accidentally discharged, sending a projectile through the sheetrock wall and striking the child, who was sitting on the couch.

The number of Americans who live in a household with at least one gun is lower than it's ever been, according to a major American trend survey that finds the decline in gun ownership is paralleled by a reduction in the number of Americans who hunt.

According to the latest General Social Survey, 32 percent of Americans either own a firearm themselves or live with someone who does, which ties a record low set in 2010. That's a significant decline since the late 1970s and early 1980s, when about half of Americans told researchers there was a gun in their household.

Interesting tidbit.

That the number of households with at least one gun is declining doesn't necessarily mean that the number being purchased is on the decline. Data from the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check system shows that in recent years there's actually been an increase in the number of background checks being run, suggesting the total number of firearms being purchased is going up.

But those are concentrated in fewer hands than they were in the 1980s, the General Social Survey finds. The 2014 poll finds that 22 percent of Americans own a firearm, down from a high of 31 percent who said so in 1985.

Perhaps they will evolve multiple arms so they can fondle more of their guns at once?
