A friend of mine saw this story and posted it on facebook:
http://dailycurrant.com/2013/01/29/ann-c...lack-pilot
But the debate instantly startd over whether this is a real story or not. After a check of the front page to Daily Current, the site the story is posted on, we realized that it's a satire site and the story didn't seem to have actually happened.
However, the confusion about whether it's real or satire tells us something. Specifically, is there a Poe's Law for Republicans? Everyone knows that Poe's Law exists because real fundamentalist religious people say things that are so absurd that it's nearly impossible to tell satire from real fundamentalists. They've developed a reputation for saying crazy things. And now, the same is starting to apply to the Republican party. I mean, no, Coulter didn't refuse to get on an airplane because the pilot was a black woman, but I wouldn't put it past her.
Maybe more importantly, why don't Republicans themselves realize that there's a Poe's Law to them and why don't they try to change their reputation?
