The British Humanist Association seeks action on Noah's Ark Farm Zoo

The BHA has called on the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums, North Somerset Council, Visit Britain and South West England to take action on Noah's Ark Farm Zoo in North Somerset. The zoo, which promotes itself to schools, advances creationism and seeks to discredit a wide variety of established scientific facts that challenge their religious views, such as radio carbon dating, the fossil record and the speed of light!

I say let them be. They can promote themselves to schools all day long for all I care.

It's the schools who actually have field trips to these things that ought to get their asses in a sling.
I used to tell a lot of religious jokes. Not any more, I'm a registered sects offender.

Looking at the site it doesn't seem to be strictly creationist - although I couldn't make a clear distinction with all the reams of bullshit linked. They seem to be saying neither is correct & putting forward a middle road. Yeah science contains no truths as ppl keep saying, but as you've pointed out, they're discrediting scientific facts. It'll be interesting to see what happens here.

Who cares? What harm are they going to do, and surely they have a right to express themselves? As far as I can tell they are not informing children to go out and kill all humanists, so let them be.

You seriously have to ask that question? They are poisoning the minds of children by telling them that science is wrong and shouldn't be trusted. They are actively lying and the people who will suffer are the generations to come.

Tourist boards should not be promoting this Zoo as they are; that is the thing the BHA are rallying against. They don't want to shut it down, but they don't want it to be promoted by tourist groups that schools use.

Have you checked the UK education system recently (if you're US check that)? Their leaders tend to get their *PhD's* from dubious institutions (call me old-fashioned but I like to believe a real doctorate is earned by someone smart who has studied his or her subject over a few years and not bought it for $250 from a diploma mill), then they want religion taught in science classes, they *educate* people in colleges where the entrance qualification is a 4 page essay entitled, "Me and my relationship with Jesus!" (they are gearing up for government), they tend to be anti-gay, sexist & racist and they want their bigoted shit forced down everyone else's throats! No, no Dagda ... they do no harm whatsoever.

In the UK we have a political party called the BNP. They are racist and anti-gay-and probably anti-semitic. Do I agree with them? Hell no. Do I want them band? No. Why? Because we live in a democracy. Like it or not that means listening to people you do not agree with.

The same applies to this group. I might not agree with them, but as soon as you ban them (like all good 'progressive' neo-liberals threaten to do to anyone who happens to voice an opinion not PC enough) you create martyrs. What happens then? People like the BNP et al gain mainstream sympathy. Anyway, any scientific theory which can not stand up to a little bit of critisism and needs to be protected by law really stops being a scientific theory.

Oh and by the way, I read the link and even googled the folk. They seemed pretty big on conservation, but homo-bashing not so much. May I ask where you got that info from? Perhaps I have missed something? I do admit I did not read all the pages on the website.

Who is talking about banning them? This is about getting the tourist board to stop promoting them, and to stop children from being taught anti-science views. They can exist if they want, but the government / tourism board should not have anything to do with them.
