The absence of an afterlife bothers during the process of mourning.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

It is simply not importent to my life.
I never really asked myself any questions about god nore about his morals or existance. The main reason I became an atheist in the first place was not due to a philosophical point or any rational argument over god. It was due to what I saw in my surrounding world what was done in the name of god. It was much later I came to reject it`s teachings. I spend my day thinking of alot of other things. "What will I eat tonight?", "Who is that redhead?", "Should I shave my beard?", "When will it finaly be summer", "Only 5 more days until "The Walking Dead" airs again!", "What will happen in the next season of Mad Men?", "Why is Far Cry 3 such a short game?", "When will annik be online on skype?", "Should I start playing minecraft?", "Why do german philosophers write their works deliberatly in a way that no one understands them?", "Mhmmm ice cream." God simply is absolutly irrelevant for my life to continue or be lived. RE: Atheists, how often do you think about God's existence/non-existence?

I don't think about the existence of any particular god at all. Why should I? Not a single bit of demonstrable evidence to support any god claim, and all the philosophical arguments are flawed.
How often do you think about the existence about the existence.nonexistence of Shiva, Vishnu or Ahura Mazda? You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence. RE: Atheists, how often do you think about God's existence/non-existence?

I don't think there are many atheists that would dissagree. But ignoring the theists that do vote and do get into public office and the religious that do try to influence politics would be unwise to ignore. In that sense we may not rid the world of it, but to ignore it would be unwise. RE: Atheists, how often do you think about God's existence/non-existence?

Lately, a lot. I've been bouncing around ideas for a book about Christianity in America.

I do think about god often, simply because our life revolves so much around this subject, even if we don't believe in its existence. Every minute or so, we come across a discussion, a media piece or just a random conversation with others that, in some ways, equate the idea of god with every single happening. With these everyday influences, its difficult to take the idea of god out of our mind.

I really get the feeling that Abrahamic theists think that atheists have a tougher time disbelieving in the existence of their god than any other god concept. As if we have no problems dismissing the existence of Ahura Mazda, Akal Purakh, or Brahma, because after all, you have no problems dismissing the existence of those gods either. In the vast majority of my time throughout the day, the thought of the existence of a god, even the one you think about while, "eating, working, listening to music, walking, sitting, while learning something, before going to sleep, or whatever that they are doing" does not enter my mind.
