Asteroid killed off the Dinosaurs, confirmed.
Quite interesting:

article Wrote:A team of American and European researchers have confirmed that the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction — the event that wiped out roughly 75% of the planet’s species, including almost every dinosaur — was caused by an asteroid impact in Mexico 66 million years ago.

So much for the oft-repeated canard that the Universe was designed for the purpose of having life in it. Things may have settled down somewhat in our neighbourhood over the last few million years, but if there's one thing that this event and recent ones, such as perennial Earth-grazing near misses and Jupiter's direct encounter with Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in 1994, have taught us it's that the cosmos cares as much about us on our pale blue dot as we do about the bacteria we wipe from our kitchen surfaces without a thought.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

Apologists bull shit in ...4..3..2...

"God created the world with age and as for the fossils, well, the Devil used rocks to confuse people into thinking they were ancient dinosaur bones."

Speaking of asteroids, one is going to flyby Earth next Friday. It is going to be so close it will be inside the orbit of geosynchronous satellites.

That's close. At that range, depending on its size, it ought to be naked eye visible.

Yikes. How big? Link?

I for one welcome our new near-miss nickel-iron overlord.

Southern hemisphere only, eh? Typical. We Northeners pay our taxes too, y'know! Where's our share of Doomsday?

Found an article on it:

Sadly too small (estimated 150 feet) for naked-eye visibility. I just love how this sort of news always has to carry a rider of "It will not strike the Earth". Sign of the times!
