With fishing (according to my brother) it is all about waiting for some Pelagic species to voluntarily suicide on your hook, THEN it becomes "catching"
For me the following quote has a ring of truth to it...
I don't know how people deal with their moods when they have no garden, raspberry patch or field to work in. You can take your angers, frustrations. bewilderments to the earth working savagely, working up a sweat and an ache and a great weariness. The work rinses out the cup of your spirit, leaves it washed and clean and ready to be freshly filled with new hope. It is one of the reasons that I am addicted to raspberry patches. The pie is purely symbolic.

You've seen Star Wars, right? Hell yeah: hatred can give you badass powers. Sure, it might not be 'the greatest power ever', but compared to Joe Shmoe?
Go kick 'is arse, laddie!

Wow that was awesome. Never saw gardening like that for me fishing is escaping and making life simply when things get complicated. Letting my mind drift off in thought with a little task to focus on. Something about it makes everything better

Which is what is valued with my brother. For me I like things a bit more terrestrial.

See, I only fish because I hate sharks. I lovingly toss everything else back- my hooking them is an unfortunate accident, but sharks..no no no..they get clubbed and gutted on sight.
(for the record, I have a deep and profound hatred for them..one made all the more sweet by their own sweetness on my tongue...I don't think I could hate anything as much as I hate them unless it was even tastier)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Why -don't- you? Seriously though, they just cruise around all cocky - not getting cancer and shit. What's up asshole, you too good for cancer? Go fuck yourself. If debilitating illness is good enough for my grandaddy it's damn sure good enough for you! Then there's the issue of their blatant disregard for my crab traps, crab trap lines.....and crabs -thieving, property destroying sons of bitches. Further, they just roll up on a public beach, eveybody's having fun, chillin in the surf - and then ski-douche...beach day is ruined. Ever try to convince a screaming 3 year old that it's safe to get back in the water? They clearly hate babies. Hell....they don't even like each other - so I'm hardly alone here.....
Need I continue?
