I think they learned it from Bush and the republicunts. Without the perception, real or imagined, of some massive external threat would the North Korean populace put up with their living conditions?

Sounds eerily similar to sequestration; the exception of course is that sequestration relies on an internal threat.

RE: North Korea...suicidal, or attention whore?
We are certainly globally hegemonic, as demonstrated by our willingness to invest astronomical sums to maintain local military superiority in the backyard of literally everyone else that matters, in addition to global military superiority. To those who conceive American interest and intention to coincide with their own sense of justice this may seem innocuous, but to who doesn't like our power being greater then their power in their very own back yard, there is little practical distinction between our hegemonic power and hostile imperial power.

As to outright imperialism, the expedition to Iraq is certainly a very barely disguised, but breathtakingly, one might say insanely, ambitious act of imperialism, to plant military presence against the will of locals not just in their backyard, but in their very houses, for the long lasting benefit to American economy and security of American domination of the region. The fact that we proved to be totally incompetent imperialists doesn't change the fact that we had been, and no doubt will be again, enthusiastic imperialists.

there is no "North Korea" there is only Korea, the term North Korea comes from years of propaganda against the republic of korea. Only Americans could create such a massive propaganda effort that it actualy renames an entire country.....maybe in 60 years Iraq will be called "the land of evil do-ers".......

.....the fact the war betweeen the US and Korea is still ongoing and we recently had a woman run for vice president who wasn't aware that north andsouth korea were two different countries speaks volumes about military propaganda, to be honest just knowing the north korea is "supposed too" be bad according to the news makes you wiser than most americans but in reality they are far from it...............

they currently have the largest military in the world, If the US couldn't take over afghanistan in less than a decade how likely do you think it will "conquer" Korea in 24hrs?............ again just more lies spread by the American propaganda machine......

The southern peninsula is still occupied by the United States a country that has since fought inn over 50 wars, while Korea hasn't invaded a single one.

we have guantanamo bay, and countless secret prisons where uncountable amounts, maybe millions of people, are being tortured on a daily basis, yet we concentrate on unsavory working conditions in Korea?

WHY?

The only reason is............ because they profess socialism, doing what's best for the people of a nation instead of just a few, doing what's best for the entire world instead of just a small portion of it's land.............. And after years of starving their people of food, occupying the farming land (what you would call south korea) they are currently enforcing an oil embargo preventing any meaningful development on their land......they have theaudacity to tell them tthey aren't allowed to produce nuclear power like they are their children........... while at the same time blaming their government with buzzword propaganda like "bureaucrats" or government to scapegoat the military occupation and the starvation of theose loyal to North Korea,

if wealthy Americans knew the truth they would never allow this but they are more infatuated with fashion trends, youtube "sensations", paris hilton and the kardashians

How did they "rename" the country?
Both countries call themselves Korea, but since there are two different forms of state and since "The Republic of Korea" and "The Peoples Democratic Republic of Korea" are to long to spell, one simply chose to use the "North and South" wording.

Just like here we use to refer to a "East Germany" and a "West Germany"

And show me proof of the propaganda effort.

And your Iraq babble is something you only did so you could mention Iraq

Quote:.....the fact the war betweeen the US and Korea is still ongoing and we recently had a woman run for vice president who wasn't aware that north andsouth korea were two different countries speaks volumes about military propaganda, to be honest just knowing the north korea is "supposed too" be bad according to the news makes you wiser than most americans but in reality they are far from it...............

supposed to be bad? what do you mean with that? That the US simply uses North Korea as a boogy man?

North Korea let`s people starve, has koncentration camps and threatens other countries with nuclear war.

Not to mention the opium production and other criminal activities.

So North Korea is not "meant to be bad". It behaves bad.

Quote:they currently have the largest military in the world, If the US couldn't take over afghanistan in less than a decade how likely do you think it will "conquer" Korea in 24hrs?............ again just more lies spread by the American propaganda machine......

Where does the "US propaganda machine" claim a will to invade North Korea?

And what is the "US propaganda machine"?

Quote:The southern peninsula is still occupied by the United States a country that has since fought inn over 50 wars, while Korea hasn't invaded a single one.

nope.

The south is an independant democracy which determines it`s own path and elects it`s own leaders, which sometimes even disagree with US policies such as Kim Dae-jung who refused to join Bush`s agressive foreign policie and approached the North with offers of peace and economic exchange.

The troops in the Korean peninsular are stationed there for the same reason as they are stationed in Germany, Italy and other countries.

They are stationed there because of bilateral agreements.

Just like Russia has troops in Syria, Iran in Lebanon and Syria, France in Ivory Coast and Niger, Kenia in Somalia and Congo.

Quote:we have guantanamo bay, and countless secret prisons where uncountable amounts, maybe millions of people, are being tortured on a daily basis, yet we concentrate on unsavory working conditions in Korea?

million..............

You know your former president once had a blowjob and even that conspiracy came out?
Not only did the Guantanamo torture cases turn out to be reveiled to the public, but how would such a thing be actualy possible to torture "millions" without anyone taking notice? explain.

Quote:WHY?

And hy do you concentrate on Korea? Because of a bilateral agreement with it. South Korea wants US troops there, just like Germany wants US troops in Rammstein.

Quote:The only reason is............ because they profess socialism, doing what's best for the people of a nation instead of just a few, doing what's best for the entire world instead of just a small portion of it's land.............. You are aware of the fact that North Korea is as socialist as Saudi Arabia is secular.

A single family lives in wealth and luxury while the rest of the country rots with starvation in mean housing or concentration camps.

With desent being punished with death.

Quote: if wealthy Americans knew the truth they would never allow this but they are more infatuated with fashion trends, youtube "sensations", paris hilton and the kardashians

yet another silly generalisation.

You probably think of yourself as some wise prophet but you are an advocat of a failed ideology, and you can only continue doing so by putting a smiley sticker over the north Korean koncentration camps, torture chambers, poverty and dictatorial rule.

Which is pathetic.

Quote:Secret US prisons in Afghanistan revealed

Recently however US government and military officials confirmed to AP the existence of the secret prisons, but contended they existed as temporary holding centers used to gather intelligence. They said detainees were held at such sites for 14 days, unless it is deemed necessary they stay longer. According to AP some detainees have been held for nine weeks.

The program remains classified, and details from the government have been released anonymously.

There are roughly 20 secret detention sites all run by the US military, with one being run the America’s elite counterterrorism unit at the Joint Special Operations Command at Bagram Air Base where high-value targets from within the Taliban, al-Qaida or other militant groups are held and interrogated.

'US prisons, crime against humanity'

Those who are held who are known to be innocent, and the numbers are in the thousands. If you look at the figures they feel they have evidence of some charges of about 157 people and that's out of more than 3,000 that they acknowledge that they have held in secret prisons and in Guantanamo. So 95% of these people they had almost no evidence on.

That is a crime. The entire imprisonment of people as an outgrowth of the wars that the US is engaging in Afghanistan into Pakistan, in Iraq, now into Libya throughout the region and it's not only prisons, it's the use of secret drone attacks that swoop down on unsuspecting civilians in Somalia, in Sudan, in Yemen, country after country.

The CIA's most secret prison revealed
In the historic city of Bucharest, the CIA tortured and interrogated high-risk terrorists for years in a basement prison, under the nose of roughly two million Romanians.

An investigation carried out by reporters for the Associated Press led to the news organization revealing on Thursday that in the years after the September 11 terror attacks, the Central Intelligence Agency operated an underground holding center for some of the most sought after alleged terrorists. There in a small six-cell jail, prisoners such as al-Qaeda operative Khalid Sheikh Mohammed were beaten and detained, all unbeknownst to the citizens of Romania or American authorities outside of the CIA.

This revelation from the AP comes after officials have adamantly denied any such institution in the past.

"No, no. Impossible, impossible," Adrian Camarasan of the National Registry Office for Classified Information told Germany’s ARD television

http://rt.com/usa/prison-revealed-cia-bucharest-371/

Secret world of US jails
Two were transported from Gambia to Guantanamo Bay - where they remain today - without any legal process. In the other incident, two Turks, a Saudi, a Kenyan and a Sudanese man were arrested in Malawi in June 2003 on suspicion of funding terrorist networks. Though freed by local courts, the men were handed over to the CIA and held for several months. Campaigners say these incidents are 'the tip of an iceberg'.

Few escape the ghost network of detention facilities, which range from massive prison camps such as that at Guantanamo Bay to naval vessels in the Indian Ocean, so accounts of life inside the new gulag are rare.

More attention whoring. Even the news agencies agree. North Korea released a propoganda video of a missle strike on the US. The special effects weren't even that great...
http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/...ear-strike
Quote:Heather Williams, a research fellow at the U.K.’s Chatham House website, said North Korea was “almost like a petulant child,” constantly wanting to remind people of its existence by acting out.

She said images like the Capitol and New York explosions fitted the theme of previous propaganda from Pyongyang, but added “at the same time, it’s a more serious situation than we have seen in quite a while.”

“It is a reminder of the situation and that things could escalate,” she said.

Williams said Kim Jong Un was a “young, new leader” who still needed to “prove himself” to the country’s powerful military.

“My take is that it is overwhelmingly bluster for domestic reasons, not international ones,” she said.
Video in hide tags. And yeah, it's in Korean.
