"Some stuff came up"

My wife seems to think it's a generational issue, that young adults in America today are spoiled and full of a sense of entitlement. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? That "generational" issue sounds more like a generalization issue. ronedee Wrote:Science doesn't have a good explaination for water RE: "Some stuff came up"

I'm one of those lil' sponges. Although, I am the way I am, because I no longer care for humanity. They had their chance to impress me... they failed. The media and society are composed of those terrible parents and their peers who often work off of nasty tricks, "execution doesn't matter" and think that the Ryan Budget Plan is a fantastic idea. They also are usually the same moronic twats who bleat "We must make cuts" and then cry when a 10% cut takes out their local little bit of pork. I hate them. So much. And perhaps Moros is right that I'm having an early onset of you-kids-get-off-my-lawn (Sweet Reason, I'm only 44; that wouldn't bode well for my future; I'll be like John McCain by the time I'm 60) and this is the typical generation gap talking. But it really does seem like my generation is the worst group of parents and we have raised a hoard of spoiled little entitled sponges. We're in violent agreement. I'm fairly certain you're a great supervisor to work for and I am certain that probabilities favor the "entitled little sponge" category. Although, usually entitled little sponges come from big entitled sponges. Due to the glut of shit adults and shitty kids my age (22), I have to practically move the mountains to "prove" to employers I'm not an "entitled little sponge" despite my work record, projects, awards, papers published being more than enough to overcome that judgement. Employers are so risk adverse these days. Then it burns me to the very core to see sponges still slip through because "they're likeable" and a "cultural fit". One such appeared 5 months into my first job as a game developer. We argued all the time because he was a fucking moron and wrong about everything regarding to the craft of game programming. He was good at tracking down very annoying networking bugs, so I will grant him that. But really, for an astrophysics degree from UC Berkeley, that fucker should've been on my level, not so far below it to utter the phrase "we're coding for more than cpu cycles and memory" (MOTHERFUCKER, in Actionscript, cycles and MEMORY are FUCKING important. Bad code massively slows EVERYTHING down... grumble).... His idea of code was "readable for him" and sometimes would implement the slowest solution possible because it "made sense to him". He'd get incredibly upset when I, the technical lead, rewrote non-optimal code (including his) a few weeks later. I eventually left said company when they began to enter a no growth phase... only to end up for four months at the worst job of my life. Emotional abuse everywhere. Guess I left one work place to avoid a sponge only to walk right into the jaws of a carnivorous larger entitled piece of shit sponge. How retarded life is sometimes... But things are getting better for me now. Places I'd love to work at are trying to get me and it feels good. Slave to the Patriarchy no more
