This book did a lot to scrub away my lingering theism. As contentious as I am about religion, my break with it was pretty gentle.

The only horror novel I've ever read which actually gave me the creeps. Not for everyone, but you should find out if that includes you. Awesome story.

A stunning exploration of how cognitive bias and specifically cognitive dissonance affects judgements about relationships, professional judgement in fields ranging from law to psychology, and even international politics.

The best book I've read all year.

The Ethical Slut is a sex-positive book specifically designed to be an introduction and guide to polyamory, but its principles can be applied to all relationships.

Interesting. I got about half-way through Sex at Dawn before being distracted - have you read that?

Not yet, but the Amazon description sounds interesting. There's nothing that fascinates me more than human sexuality (although bonobo sexuality comes pretty close).

Well, there's plenty of human stuff in there and it's really interesting. Several poly couples recommended it to me with the admonishment to take it with a grain of salt (of course) but one of the women who did is an anthropology major.

All right, one of my favourite subjects is psychology, and this is one of my favourite books in the field of abnormal psychology:

The Sociopath Next Door by Martha Stout, ph.d.
This book tells you everything Martin McDonagh didn't tell you about psychopaths. They're not just killers. They can also be that guy you know who just doesn't seem to get on well with people. Maybe it could be your boss. The more I read this book, the more I began to think that maybe that uncle my mother always said used to destroy her stuff might be one.

Mary Roach is an incredibly funny writer. I got through only part of Spook, but there were plenty of laugh out loud moments.
