How did you work it out?

RE: How did you work it out?
Hello and welcome. Smile

For me it was sort of like logic. There is no evidence that any gods exist, and I could could clearly see why a) someone would want there to be a god, and b) why someone would tell others that there is a god. I'm perfectly open to evidence of the existence of gods if any is ever found, but as it stands, with what we know as of right now, I am 100% certain that there are definitely no gods out there.

The WIN/Gallup End of Year Survey 2013 found the US was perceived to be the greatest threat to world peace by a huge margin, with 24% of respondents fearful of the US followed by: 8% for Pakistan, and 6% for China. This was followed by 5% each for: Afghanistan, Iran, Israel, North Korea. -LINK

"That's disgusting. There were clean athletes out there that have had their whole careers ruined by people like Lance Armstrong who just bended thoughts to fit their circumstances. Your hypothesis seems fine that there might be something outside of the laws of physics but then you assert that there will be a god outside of the laws of physics, since scientists havent fully worked out the laws of physics then there wouldnt be a chance of figuring out or even speculating what would be outside the laws of physics

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

I do not believe in religion but i believe in God.
The other day i met an atheist and i had a discussion about the existence or not of God.
I asked him........how did you work it out that God does not exist?
He said ............i do not see him...i do not perceive.. the science can not prove his existence...and i can live without God so why should i care about it?
I said to him.....ok i can understand that someone does not care or is not interested but i can not understand someone that dismiss his existence relaying only on Physical science.
He said.......why not?
I said to him ......physical science is called PHYSICAL just because is confined to the physical arena or physical universe and therefore is unable to go beyond.
If you want to go beyond you need to use a different type of science and in order to do this you must have the desire to do so but as far as you put limitation to your desire there is no way you can discover anything at this stage in time.
Ok guys i hope to develop this topic with anyone who is interested and sorry for my poor english. Ciao

The only place cognition exists is in biological evolution. There is no such thing as a non material magical super brain with magical super powers. Thor does not make lightening. The sun is not a god. Muslims wont get 72 virgins in a fictional after life. And there is no such thing as magic babies being born without two sets of DNA. And human flesh does not survive rigor mortis.

It never occurs to believers that "all this" is a result of a "what" not a magical "who". Just like there is no magical season god causing winter to change into spring.

If you can accept that a hurricane does not need the ocean god Posiden to cause it, then you should be able to understand why I reject your pet god claim as well.

Humans like the idea of a super hero, and we know humans are capable of making up and believing in absurd claims.

It is important to use the right tool when you try to progress in some task.
If you give a hammer to a computer programmer and a computer to a carpenter they will not be able to do much, but if you exchange the tools you will find that the two guys will be able to perform their duty.
The same apply to a scientist.
When a scientist insist in trying to discover what may lies outside this dimension using physical science and not intuitional science then he-she will not be able to go anywhere.

I agree the right tool for the right job.

Let me know when someone uses anything other than the tool of Imagination for God.

If you’re going to watch tele, you should watch Scooby Doo. That show was so cool because every time there’s a church with a ghoul, or a ghost in a school. They looked beneath the mask and what was inside?

But a scientist and a religious person trying to speculate what lies outside the laws of physics will pointless from both perspectives, both speculations will still be speculations based on no useful evidence.
To use your analogy it would be like getting the computer programmer and the carpenter in a room together and then saying "here's a dildo, go and perform your carpenter and computer programming duties with this"
