RE: Bad sexual desires Christianity's fault?
March 19, 2013 at 1:53 pm
Rape is not an act of sexual repression. It is an act of control, violence, and torture in which sex is used as the vehicle to inflict pain on another person, the rapist understanding that it is a way to deeply affect someone, or a way to establish dominance through shame. The last part might be related to the repressive nature of some portions of Christianity and other repressive religions, but only in so far that sex is a possible source of shame thanks to the prevalence of those religions, and because even before those religions it was understood as a deeply intimate act. The rapist is not getting rocks off that he couldn't find in other ways. He or she is stealing something from another person that could be freely given away. It is an act of reducing a person to an object in order to satisfy an internal frustration that may or may not have anything at all to do with sex...because believe me - plenty of rapists get plenty of regular sex.
I suggest you come up with studies to back up these assertions before you make these wild claims in public. While religion certainly leads to repression of natural impulses and ignorance and misguided feelings about sex (such as objectification of women, women not understanding they can say no, etc), it's not limited to Christianity, and requires much more inherent violence and lack of empathetic feelings regardless of religion in order to commit such a heinous act. Rape has existed before Christianity and will exist after it and is far more complicated than just "Christians get sexually frustrated and strike out wherever possible".

You are confusing the law with a relationship with Christ. So in actuality it is the lack of a walk with Christ, I'm not saying it's a complete lack, it is the temporary non Christian action of a Christian that involves a Christian in bad behavior. We screw up and sometimes royally, and we are to return to a better walk with God, this begins with repentance.
So you are deniging your own words?
OK as to try to wriggle OUT of what you have said.
Then please explain just WHY so many Christians™, are behaving badly?
Mind you that's the most conveluted piece of gobbledy gook we have seen for a while G-C...welcome back.
Who says there are a great many Christians misbehaving, I know I do not see Christians raping though I assume it does happen on a rare occasion. Bad sexual desires are what the OP is about and yes I expanded bad behavior beyond that, but not necessarily worse than that. As far as a convoluted statement is concerned, your opinion is yours, you however do not understand what Christianity actually is, even though I've explained it many times in the pass.

The driving force is, love of and for Christ, walking in this love continually changes a person for the better, it is a process. Just as a child learns from loving parents, Christians learn from a loving God.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

Not that this isn't to be expected, mind you, given the overall number of jesus freaks around. They still comprise a significantly higher percentage of the prison population relative to the un-incarcerated gp (which is amusing, but ultimately inconclusive). A great many christians are misbehaving, by anyone's count.
