We don't know if the material world exists though. We don't know that it can exist on it's own. Therefore it's an unknown as well. All you know is you are experiencing via five senses. Therefore as far as cosmological arguments go, there is no reason to prefer one over the other. If there is other reasons outside that, then you can prefer it over the other.

The soul would be experienced constantly. For example, if we can summon power from the soul (will power) or make uncaused decisions that are totally free (libertarian free-will) or that what is praised is the soul, or that our identity is the soul, or that our thoughts are immaterial, then this can be possibly all witnessed directly.
