Some people, in some parts of the USA, quite so.

I'm glad to live in a place where people tend towards tolerance and acceptance.

at least I didn't go down without a fight. I got a hit in, though I wish I'd aimed it a bit better. I was going for the little bitch's nose.

Quote:On March 20, 2007, the Matthew Shepard Act (H.R. 1592) was introduced as federal bipartisan legislation in the U.S. Congress, sponsored by Democrat John Conyers with 171 co-sponsors. Shepard's parents were present at the introduction ceremony. The bill passed the House of Representatives on May 3, 2007. Similar legislation passed in the Senate on September 27, 2007[35] (S. 1105), however then-President George W. Bush indicated he would veto the legislation if it reached his desk.

George Bush is a bitch.

I never know what to say at times like these. Um, I'm glad you're okay(ish). N-no, I mean I'm not glad about the ish part, I would be gladder if you were totally okay, but, um...hope you get better soon. (Not that it will do anything, I mean, I could pray too, but...uh...). Yeah... that.

I would say something about the assailants, but since I prefer not to use profanities on these forums, I think I'll refrain.

Thing was I don't even think these guys were country-boys. None of them had the country-twang. Hell, one of them sounded more like a wigger than anything else.

I fucking hate this state. It's official.

I'm truly sorry. That's horrible Sad. Hope you heal soon. I hope that you don't get the permanent scar on your lips. There are some products that can help with that, and I think it helps to try to avoid the sun. I had huge cut on my nose, but I was hospitalized and avoided the sun, and it's unnoticeable, while when it happened when I was a kid, it was hugely noticeable because I went in the sun. Anyways, scars tend to look good on guys but I'm just thinking it's better not there because it might bring back the memory.

Good. They sound like the kind of jackasses who've done that before and will do it again. The more time they spend off of the streets, the better for everyone else. Get better soon.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

It is, with a hint of pride, I must admit, that I state that I want to remember this. Just so in thirty years when my grandchildren ask me, "grand-daddy, how'd you get that scar?" I can reply "Because I supported people who were being discriminated against."

That's something these assholes probably never realized. Yeah. It hurts like a motherfucker. But it vindicates my stance. If they were trying to make me afraid, they failed. I'm shaken up, but I'm not deterred. I'm going to send an email to the shirt-makers, tell them what happened, and ask if they can possibly spare a replacement. As for the now-tattered shirt...I'm going to hang it up on my wall.
