I thought this was already understood? It's a sign of fertily and health. Selective breeding for quality of care to males offspring.

But I will posit that it's much easier to wax poetic about a swell of flesh, likening it to a mound of cream (or whatever nonsense harlequin novels use these days) than coming up with something for the face-hugging alien appearance of a vagina.
