Am I not allowed to wear the hat of an ordinary member as well? If not then you're effectively saying I just have to take that kind of crap!

Lol ^_^ so that's why you added in the Cookie eating Mad Scientist ^_^ Smile

Anyway, i think that Kyu should be able to wear the hat of an ordinary member. Hats (As with all other clothing) is just another decoration for the body... and i see no reason for Kyu not to wear what he wants to wear. Smile

Although a string bikini might attract some very interesting attention in the streets Dodgy

Anyway, nobody should be descending to the level of a personal attack... ever. Not in person, not on the phone, and not online. People should have more sense than that Smile

Then those who criticise me should recognise that I was in (admittedly aggressive) defensive mode.

I do try though ... certain people just happen to have a unique ability to wind me up!

Actually what I said was, "You should chastise him for it if you think it is wrong..." and NO you do not get to wear the hat of an ordinary member, because your name is green and there is no way of telling when you will moderate or not.

I am not defending Fr0d0's actions, I am attacking yours because of the power differential that is real and certainly part of your role here regardless of the time of day, how you feel about it, or even how much Saerules kisses your ass. Tongue

RE: Why Some Of The Boys Backed Out
Rhizo,

Saerules didn't 'kiss his ass' did she?

She was against the personal attack, wasn't she?

Luckily for me I don't get bothered by them. So I don't have a problem with it myself, but I don't insult because it would be dishonest (I don't actually have such negative feelings towards people, so to insult them would be dishonest, misleading - a misrepresentation of my true personality), and because it just does unnecessary bad at worst, and leaves things as they are at best. It's just plain gratuitous at best I think.

I am really not sure how to defend others on this matter though, because I don't like it when people insult others, and it just causes trouble, but I don't like it when people get "offended" by just about every single fucking thing other the sun. (It doesn't offend me, I just find it disruptive and awkward sometimes). So it's hard to draw the line for me, it's hard to judge - because as I said, I don't do insults myself nor do I, myself, actually get offended by them.

That was what I was refering to and having a bit of fun along the way. Whether she supported the attack or not is irrelevent. I also quoted Spiderman so I wasn't taking this highly serious. I just thought that Kyu was being unnecessarily harsh and it is made worse by the fact that there is a power differential.

RE: Why Some Of The Boys Backed Out
Well, I'm a Mod too, but I'm here for my own enjoyment mostly. Mostly just as a member.

Why? Because if I didn't simply enjoy myself here then I'd not bother being here. And if I had to limit myself in any way simply from having mod privileges, if I didn't think I should be treated equally as a normal member posting on the forum as well - I'd demote myself.

I shouldn't have to express myself any differently because I'm a mod. I hope to think I'm fair to people either way! Mod or no mod! Which is perhaps one of the reasons I was made one in the first place, I dunno.

If it's unacceptable a mod ad homming, then it is as a normal member as well! And vice versa!

The power differential only makes it worse if it's actually abused. Until then, it doesn't. I'd hope if I, for instance, ever truly abused my mod powers - I'd get prevented from doing so, or whatever necessary action would be taken against me. Hopefully that would never happen (and I can bet I wouldn't ever lose my temper! I haven't got remotely pissed off at anyone on the net in 6 years. Of my 9 years online).

If that's true then I need to seriously consider whether I wish to be a moderator any more ... as Ev says, I am here mostly for the "discussion" and if if it is perceived that I cannot do that in the way I want to do that and still be a moderator then I must choose between the two.
