Where do you come from?

This thread is pretty straightforward, where do you come from/where are you currently living. The poll shows only the continent, so tell more about your country/city/town/village below and maybe put a nice photo of your favorite place near home.

Greetings to all,me? I currently reside in the deep south near Memphis,TN. after five years in Yorkshire,England.I am also a vegan and a non-traditional student.Why the bible belt south? after repatriating 14 months previous I looked in on a dear friend who lives in Arkansas about 60 miles from Memphis. I discovered during my visit,I qualify for a tuition waiver for all universities within Arkansas. So I traveled To Portland,OR. to retrieve my belongings and the rest is history.
My field of study is international studies, the course requires I learn a foreign language(Spanish) and live abroad for a semester or more. However,I was ill prepared for the deep south. Black,vegan and atheist is the trifecta of whammy's. It appears that a sizable portion of the black masses failed to receive the news of the Emancipation Proclamation.I am sad to report the plantation system in alive and well. Enslaved citizenry inviting me back on the plantation,no thanks!

Having lived in the Memphis area, I know how you feel. I lived there for 4 years as a kid. Even being a Jewish white kid was enough to face discrimination in 1st grade. My dad moved back there a few years ago, and tried to convince me to come to the area, too. Now that I'm an adult vegetarian atheist, I wouldn't want to go back. Just visiting my dad there once a year makes me feel like I've left the country I live in (blue state America) for a whole different country (red state America).

My dad moved back there a few years ago, and tried to convince me to come to the area, too. Now that I'm an adult vegetarian atheist, I wouldn't want to go back. Just visiting my dad there once a year makes me feel like I've left the country I live in (blue state America) for a whole different country (red state America).

Memphis isn't one of favorite places either, but like most other cities areas of it aren't bad. Mid-town is mostly a decent place, and the Cooper-Young neighborhood in particular is not your stereotypical southern US neighborhood.

Nah, we don't all. Then I'd be normal and that really doesn't seem likely.

I even look like an alien, I'm a foot taller than all my friends. Hmmph.

I am from around Craigavon, Northern Ireland.

We used to have violence between Catholics and Protestants but mostly that is gone.

Northern Ireland isn't known for having tall buildings or skyscrapers, but every 11th July communities around the country build these.



Apart from this I love it here.
