Atheism, what led you?

I see you are a Tosin Abasi fan. Cool.

I am an agnostic atheist.

I do not claim to know, with absolute certainty, that a god does not exist. Thus, I am agnostic.

I disbelieve that a god exists. Thus, I am an atheist.

My atheism is an outgrowth of my skepticism. When I apply the same level of critical thinking and scrutiny to the god claim as to other supernatural claims, there is no justification to believe it.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

Atheist because there is no testable proof of gods, I don't believe in atheism, I am an atheist

God just seemed like a silly concept, much like Santa Claus. So I didn't believe.

How many times must we answer the same question?
It feels like every month there's a new guy asking this same thing!

OT: Born that way, despite what people around me said, I never bought into the story.... eventually, became convinced they were all wrong, then I found there was a name for someone like me, so I didn't feel so alone in my clarity of mind.

I know right? AAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!! IT'S NOT A BELIEF! THERE ARE THREADS EXPLAINING WHY THIS QUESTION IS STUPID! . This is the exact type of circular question you could expect from a circular logician. I'm an atheist because the bible says so. In the words of Mark Twain...

"It ain't the parts in the Bible I don't understand that bother me, it's the parts I do understand!"

[EDIT] P.S. I'm aware there are other God theories other than Christianity, I reject them too.

There's no 'or' only 'and'
A/Gnostic is an application of knowledge.
A/Theism is an application of belief/disbelief.

I don't believe there's a God. Maybe there is, but I don't see why I should believe something that there is no evidence for/reason to believe exists.
As for what I believe in... With regards to what?

Well if your an atheist/agnostic, like what moral practices do you hold to be true etc. Something along those lines.

How many times does this have to be repeated: Atheism is not a belief its the rejection of a belief (god or gods).

Doesn't that make it a belief then?

In general the rule that I live by is best described by the Wiccan Rede, "An' it harm none, do what ye will."

No. Rejecting a belief is not the same as holding a belief to be true. Rejecting a belief in God is not the same thing as believing God does not exist.

I imagine you just believe in one god, yeah? Well, I, like you, don't believe in thousands upon thousands of gods, but I just go that one god further. It is all the same to me... God, unicorns, Gork and Mork... all just fictional. There is absolutely no reason to think otherwise.

Yes I believe in one God, but why do you believe that anything supernatural is fictional?

No. Rejecting a belief is not the same as holding a belief to be true. Rejecting a belief in God is not the same thing as believing God does not exist.

So basically I respect you if you respect me?

Wouldn't the belief be that there is no God then?

Well, I wouldn't put it quite like that. Everything supernatural that any person has ever put forward seems to be pure fabrication, however, our knowledge of something isn't necessary for it to exist, so I would say that I don't believe in anything supernatural, not that I think that anything supernatural is fictional. I see a slight difference.

Anyway, I don't believe in anything supernatural, because there is absolutely no reason or evidence to make me believe otherwise. I'm not saying that supernatural things definitely don't exist, because I couldn't be 100% sure of such a thing, but I don't believe in any of it. I don't know if I've been very clear here... I'm pretty high, so I'm gonna have to check back here tomorrow to see if anything I wrote is readable. Tongue
