A club exists at my school for the purpose of evangelizing students

These clubs exist in my area in high schools and middle schools. They are run by an outside missionary group located in the northern area of my state. The only purpose of this club is teaching evangelization to Christians and converting non-Christian students to Christianity. Kids are apparently invited to these clubs and presented the gospel and then made to confess Jesus as their savior. They sign a card saying they confess Jesus as their savior or they have more questions to ask before confessing. Group leaders are supposed to report to headquarters how many students have been converted to Christianity.

You know....this could be a good plot for a movie.

If a film comes out that's a lot similar to this story, don't worry, I'll credit you.




Seriously though, that's despicable. Even if you replaced the word "Christian" with "environmentalist" or even "atheist" in your situation, it would be equally as despicable. No student organization should force thoughts upon another. Sickening.

They can't force conversion but they can certainly pressure students. Think. Your friend invited you to a club and promises music, food, and game. When you get there you are presented the gospel by an adult and then asked to give your soul to Jesus. You fill out a card giving them your contact information which is sent to a church so adults can "follow-up".

Unfortunately this seems to be legal by circumvention.

That's from the oddly incredibly similar club run in a different area. Basically with the same goals and gimmicks as the clubs in my area.

It seems to me you have a lot of info on this group and it's all negative, this type of program is happening in many schools across the country and there is nothing illegal about it. Have you attended enough of these meetings to discover what you're tell, or is it just things you're being told, second hand biased opinions.

Yes laughable, the students are free to come and go, no one is forcing them to attend, take your blinders off and look at the truth.

The only hatred I see is your's, you and others here are being lead around by the nose by none other than a teenager, grow up and see whats going on. This person has complained to others who know nothing can be done to stop the students Bible Club and has come here to vent. These students are free to express their views on life, but you would take away that right and replace it with, a so called hate crime.
As far as implementing hate crimes, both sides can use that sort of thing, careful what you wish for.

I think everyone who has read my post so far has the read the sentence, "No student organization should force thoughts upon another" as "No student organization should force another student to convert." Very different things, and mine is true.

Also, Godschild, I'd like to point out that if there was the same student organization that is atheist rather than Christian, you'd probably be upset by it. Also, Godschild, stop excusing everything because it's your belief. Realize when they cross the line. If you're reading Marine's posts, you'll notice what kind of intense pressure is put on these students to convert, or rather, at least pretend to convert. When you're in an environment like that, it's increasingly difficult to stray away from all the pressure they're putting on you. Again, how would you feel if they were an atheist organization?
