But as an "old-timer," wouldn't you say we have to grow up, accept responsibilities, get a job, support ourselves and families, etc.? But that doesn't mean we can't have fun and run around pretending to be Darth Vader, right?

Surely you play and have fun too, Min. I see you have fun toying with all sorts of people on these forums everyday! These guys just like to play dress up instead.

Does that mean its more likely they live in their mom's basement... Probably, but it's not an absolute given.

In all seriousness, I do wonder about young adults today.

Before it was co-opted by allah-praising lunatics the Egyptian revolution began as a protest against economic conditions with high unemployment among the young and hopelessness for any sort of future. I kept wondering where American youth was because they are facing the same set of problems.

Alas, they sit on their asses waiting for the next cell phone app to come out.

@Min, those that are tuned in are very tuned in, even if they aren't active in effecting change... Those that aren't, simply aren't, and likely never will be.
I think there's a lot of feeling, "I'm just one person, I can't change anything." Which is why we see so much advocating on Facebook, but not in real life. Plus, the youngsters have mountainous student loans, they have to sell their souls to their jobs to pay, with not so much time left over to devote to other important things (also key in why so many move back to mom and dad's, well that and lack of jobs). Also, things here in the US (economy, jobs, rights/liberties, etc.) haven't gotten that bad... yet... At least not when you look at other areas with large youth-based movements (Egypt, Spain, Greece). I think the younger generations, in large part, realize they're cogs in the machine, they just don't know how to jump off the ride.
Unfortunately, I'm also in that camp. I'm looking at going back to work (or more accurately going to work for the first time, career-wise anyway), and I want to do something that helps. That in some small way makes a difference to all the corruption and callousness, but have no clue how to execute that...
Bright spot: Kids today volunteer more, partially because its required for graduation many places. But forced or no, that's a good thing

A fetus is not yet a baby.

That's really what's at the core of the issue, I'm sure we all agree nobody may kill another human, whether it's their child or not. But when does the foetus become "another human"? Certainly the egg and the sperm are not yet a human being, and I'm sure most of us agree that even the fertilized egg is not yet a human, but certainly the baby that pops out nine months later is. Somewhere in between there is a point where we have to acknowledge there is now another person with rights of their own. For me the most reasonable line used to be the one where the phoetus/baby could survive on its own, i.e. could be born without major developmental issues and grow into a healthy human being even if it never once saw the mum. I'm not so sure anymore...

I agree with most abortion laws as they stand (third trimester=not ok), but they're still a bit arbitrary. If the laws didn't exist and it was simply left up to the person housing the potential baby, I'd still be ok with it.
