Quote:"I'm just one person, I can't change anything."
That's a convenient excuse. History is filled with examples of one person who changed things.
Of course, we don't really teach "history" anymore.
How to shut up people who are against abortion

Yeah, but deeper examination often finds a group of people standing behind the spokesperson. The "Great Man" school of history doesn't stand up to social undercurrents and long-term movements. MLK Jr. is a great example. Would civil rights have gone through without him? Yes. But it arguably could have taken longer without his efforts and leadership.
"Great" Man is a misnomer but someone has to have the ability to seize the moment. Look at Mitt Romney. Had everything going for him and still managed to lose. Clearly, far from a "great" man.
As Napoleon once said - a far better example of a great man - "ability is nothing without opportunity."
We need better leaders. Our current crop isn't doing so well.

No one should have any say over anyone else's choices for their own bodies unless the owner of said body requests it, which is what I did. If men were able to get pregnant, I'd have the same opinion.Did the baby/fetus give consent to you destroying it? Why should you have say over what happens to the parasites body, hm?
I... can't... seem... to shake it... the troll... it keeps hanging on to my leg...
Get... OFF, you little troll. RE: How to shut up people who are against abortion

Yes, the woman is carrying the baby / foetus / embryo / whatever you want to call it, but why doesn't the father have a say in the matter if he helped create it?Quote: Isn't it his baby too? People who support abortion like to think that it's such a simple issue, but when you get right down to the core of it, it's really not. On the one hand, you have the reasoning that a woman should be able to control her own body; on the other, you have the fact that abortion is killing a human, whether you like it or not (or whether you accept it's a person or not). You also have the fact that if the sex was consensual, the father helped to create something which is rightfully his responsibility too. I'd say it's a quite simple yes/no question. Quote:I don't understand the use of the term "baby" in this context. Accuse me of asking a loaded question...answer it anyway. *claps* Quote:No one should have any say over anyone else's choices for their own bodies unless the owner of said body requests it, which is what I did. We do it for mentally handicapped people, we do it for loved ones who are not capable of making choices themselves, and heck, we do it for criminals who break the law. Tiberius, there's no need to get sarcastic. I have an opinion, and it's valid. You also have a valid opinion. I'm going to chalk it up to agree to disagree and I hope you can do the same.
