I do not think that age brings strength... hence you will find that muscular density varies person to person, and degrades/builds/remains the same over time. My old grandpa was still actively fishing in his 80's (setnet fishing here... it is NOT easy)... whereas my 50 year old mother is hardly capable of the same. My boyfriend of 14 (several years ago) could accomplish much more than some of the hired crew in their mid twenties. I see no correlation.

PS You are sane Meatball and seem to understand that most people will fit within 3 standard deviations from the mean. There is a corelation between age and strength. Knowledge correlates with age too, for the most part.

You need to learn to pick your battles. There is obviously going to be some exceptions to generally true statements but that doesn't mean that NO assumptions can be made about reality. At no point did Meatball make any absolute statements, so flaunting one exception that goes against what he said is pointless and proves nothing.

I'm sorry... what did he say about the elderly again? That they are a waste of space? That seems like a pretty absolute statement to me. ANY exception disproves a rule. Show me one single accepted scientific theory that hasn't been (or is not being) rewritten because a flaw was found under it? A general rule is a pretty poor thing to base things off of... because it is a line of best fit, and admits that there are exceptions to it. I can flaunt far more than those two exceptions to the broad 'rule' that age connotes anything more than how long thing has 'been around' or lived or whatever.

I continue to contend that age is but a measure of how long we have lived. I agree that one has the highest likelihood of being at their 'physical strength' in their prime, and that our specie's prime usually takes place between its middle 'teens' and middle 'fourties'... but i vehemently disagree that those in their prime are any better as people than those not... and I also vehemently disagree that a person will 'always' (and some of these don't have the slightest to do with being in one's prime at all) be at their strongest/most mature/most knowledgeable/most intelligent/whatever during their prime... and I vehemently disagree with basing people's rights off of age means anything.

Base people on who they are, how mature they are, how able they are, how intelligent, how strong, and all of these attributes that make a bloody difference. Don't base people on their race, ethnicity, age, background, whatever.

I read no more information by reading the age or a person, than I read by hearing of someone's african descent. Do you read more out of it?

How's about you and me having a boxing match then? By your logic it will be fair even though I am a 35 year old male and you are a 16 year old female. After all some women are stronger than men so throw out gender discrimination. Some heavy people are weaker than lighter people so throw out weight class. Some older people are weaker than younger people so throw out age discrimination. So when we gonna fight huh?

Also, I'm pretty sure Meatball was makin' a joke when he said that ridiculous thing about the elderly but hey maybe he is that big of an ass. That wasn't the point you were trying to refute anyway.
