I invite you to provide the ACTUAL proof of that statement -AND also provide proof that is a particular god of the many tens of thousands so far named WITHOUT using circular reasoning - ie - the bible or other christian written documents - UNLESS you have actual testable and verifiable proof of the statements

I don't wanna call people that practice religion names, but you're right, religion is just a word and not capable of being anything. I know some smart people that are practicers of religion. They feel its important, I think its dumb. It can be a gentlemen's disagreement.

Actually - Xtianity - which is entirely based on the requirement that we accept the story of Adam and EVE creation even when we already know it is NOT TRUE - is especially ridiculous.

FIrst - if YOU are a christian - and YOU accept the bible - the bible clearly says in Isiah - that we are not responsible for the sins of others (Our fathers) - but are personally responsible only for the ones WE commit ourselves. (Stated plainly)

SO - the idea that anyone beyond EVE - would be responsible for "original sin" is rejected by the bible itself. AND - to support that one - read - 1 Timothy 2 - where it is again stated in the bible that it was EVE who sinned.


THere are so many problems with the religious claims that I could go on forever about them if I lived that long. Why would there be a "WAR" between the devil (Evil) - and god (Supposedly good) =- when the god is supposedly ALMIGHT and the highest power in the universe and able to do anything. Evil can ONLY exist if the god wants it to. If the god did not want evil to exist - it supposedly could WILL it gone without effort.


Now - if WE are not responsible for the sins of others - Explain the PASSOVER - that can only be explained as a mass murder of people who did nothing themselves (THEY were not their leader - they did not even choose him) - to deserve to be killed.

No...You just aren't reading the texts right. Those things were not supposed to be taken literally. Don't you know that? The stuff that doesn't make sense to the reader can be thrown out, the stuff you want to take literally, you keep if it sounds good to you. You would make a terrible Christian.

No doubt. But, I wasn't going to canvas all relgious people as dumb. I agree that we're all dumb in lots of respects. I think it would make me appear to be quite dumb if I painted practicers of religion with such a broad brush. I don't know all of them, and certainly can't speak to their levels of individual expertise.

Another intersesting anecdote with respect to your post: Aristotle thought that the thinking mechanism was in his chest, and that whatever it was between his ears, was an organ that cooled blood! He seemed to be a pretty smart fella, and didn't even know what part of his body was producing the thoughts

But does that warrant labeling them a dumb person? If a dumb person is someone that can't apply the entirety of their intellect to every aspect of their life, we're all guilty.
