I have to say that much of the evidence from the gospel doesn't actually back up this moderate claim.

the question begs....compared to who? God?

Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.

Obviously he was nicer than the God of the OT - but so was....well.......just about 99% of the people that have lived since.

I disagree, at least the OT god had the decency to wait until you had -done- something before he did whatever the hell was on his mind to do anyway...and after having done so left your corpse alone.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

True but he did get involved in some seriously dodgy real estate deals, turned a woman into salt for the crime of taking a peek, flooding the entire planet and a bit of genocide on the side.

I probably let those aspects of his personality blind me to the reality.....Wink

And obviously Drippy you have not absorbed the implications of that?

And the implications would be that there should have been buildings, walls, roads, or the like that twenty-something Jesus would have had a hand in constructing?

No, that he would have been of a social class even lower than the peasantry... which at least had land.

Jesus would have been more like a day laborer...you know, the kind that fine xtians want to throw out of the country.
