Look up the Silver Fox Experiment. Russian scientists domesticated it, and it was so different that they had to name the result something else because it was an entirely new species.

I just watched that tonight, they still call it a fox and say it's still of the specie Canine, what was done would have not occurred in nature, and it was accomplished by a higher brain. The foxes that were breed to be more passive would not have survived in the wild, that's how selection for the fittest in an environment works, not to change the species but to make it stronger so it can survive.

*Puts on lab coat.* Canine is not a species. Canidae is a family classification, under which numerous individual species (fox, by the way, is a tribe of the canid group, listed under Vulpini) which itself needs to be classified further down through genus and then into species. That's why you have silver foxes, red foxes, etc.

It's strange, your contention here seems to be "oh sure, that definitively evolutionary process occurred, but it doesn't count because people did it!"

Thankfully, they didn't have to, thus allowing for the propagation of the evolutionary changes that occurred within them. Because evolution doesn't say they had to survive; just that the changes happened. And they did.

Natural selection is not survival of the fittest. The "fittest," whatever that means, are not necessarily the only ones to survive, nor are they even the most likely. Evolution selects against negative traits, not for positive ones. Even neutral traits can persist, depending on the selection pressures.

But then, I bet you don't understand a lot of those words, having never bothered to study this before you declared it all wrong.

Not really. Like I said above, what matters is that the changes happen, not that they make sense to you. Evolution is changes within a species, and those have happened. You saw them. No matter your contentions, at root, you agree that evolution happened.

I might just add that all these "higher brains" did was set up the conditions necessary for the foxes to be able to do the hard part by themselves, essentially recreating the natural environment - which is the whole point of these experiments. If living organisms didn't have the capacity to breed and evolve built in already, it's hardly likely that scientists would be able to get them to do it. And what purpose would that serve, if they were presenting findings that weren't there? How's that evolutionary conspiracy thing coming along there, G-C?

I forget who said this and can't be arsed to look it up, but no matter how sophisticated the science the easiest way to make babies (for the most part ) is through unskilled labour.
