First of all I would like to greet everyone as I post my first reply in this forum!
Second of all I want to tell you guys that I have found the level of expected western athiest ignorance on these forums towards islam and hence I am taking it upon myself to clear this cloud of stereotypes and lack of understanding.
As to the matter of this topic here are the facts in points:
1) Islam requires a woman to wear a head scarf and wear decent clothes (cover her arms, legs and body) this doesn't mean they should wear a nazguls' costume in the process. I will tell you the origin of that latter on.
2) Not wearing a head scarf after adulthood is sinful but it mustn't be enforced by ANYONE on the woman. A husband should though as his wife to wear it only to absolve himself from blame before god.
3) the nazgul costume is a tradition dating back before islam in the arab penincella and then made its way to the religious tradition falsely. But god didn't ask for it.

Don't blame islam for the follies of muslims.

To my mind, any woman who defends Islam's draconian attitudes towards women has psychological issues. What those issues are is debatable. Stockholm Syndrome, mental deficiencies, a warped view of your rightful place in the world? Hell...whatever it is, it's pathetic.

Let me see what I got out of the majority of your replies:

-We don't care about islam and what it says: No one asked you to... only to understand what you criticise.
-Islam is sexist: obviously you haven't reas the history of islam. Before it came women were sex slaves and many pagans buried their firdt borns alive if they were females. Islam came to save all humans from cruelty women included. The first converted Muslim after the profit was a business woman whom the prophet worked for before they fell in love and got married... she was even oldee then him! In short men to have to be decent in thrir clothes and the religion isn't sexist. How can god who has no sex be sexist?
-The husband has no right inforcing head scarfs on his wife: agreeded. I said he har to ask not enforce... it is the woman's choice. My wife for instance doesn't wear it.

There're so many things wrong with that post I doubt your sincerity.

We're criticizing the sexist idea that is the burka. There's not much to understand about it.

Islam is sexist. It is. Man can marry 4 wives, women can't marry more than one man. Man can divorce wife by saying I divorce you 3 times. Women cannot deny men sex after marriage. Men are instructed on how to physically beat their wives in the Qur'an. Islam teaches that women are suited for a specific set of roles and men are suited for another set. Is that not judging humans by their sex? Is that not sexist?

Husband has no right? Only in Islam would people think that is something to boast about. Are we going to pretend Shariah laws don't exist here? That there aren't muslim households that enforce these laws within their walls?
