The Last Movie You Watched
RE: The Last Movie You Watched
The Martian... again.

listened to the audiobook which made me want to watch the movie, which makes me want to listen to the audiobook, which makes me want to watch the movie... it's a vicious cycle.

But I love both.

The last thing I saw in theaters was Spider-Man, and it was dope.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

I just finished watching the last Ghostbusters... the one with the ladies.
It's a bit on the silly side. The original Ghostbusters seemed to take the premise seriously, but this one is really more of a parody.
With the parody of the opposite gender dumb cute receptionist and all.

I liked the cameos... Bill Murray as the skeptic, Dan Aykroyd as the taxi driver that knows a bit much about ghosts, Ernie Hudson as Patty's uncle, owner of a Funeral home, Annie Potts as the Hotel manager, and Sigourney Weaver as Holtzmann's mentor.
Also, "don't cross the streams", Slimer and Ecto-1.... oh... and Stay Puft.

I rewatched the 2005 Fantastic 4 movie. I loved this movie when I was 15. Now as an adult I think it's ok.

It's Problems:

Ham fisted plot points: Every Movie has a map of plot points, what makes it not feel like a checklist is when there is a good story around it. That way we flow almost seemingly to every point and enjoy the story and it's developments. This just feels like a checklist. Have the 4 be like a family, lets give them previous history that kinda sorta ties them together. Lets do the same with Doom in regards to them knowing him. Check. Get their powers, Check. Have the powers make them look like their comic counterparts, check. And you get the idea. The most ham fisted one was Ben and Reed getting into a fight. Ben never trusted Doom, but suddenly he's friends with him just cuz Doom talked nice to him and give him food? And then he believes the lies Doom tells him about Reed despite him knowing Reed and being his friend long before he met Doom. I mean Come On.

Relying too much on the human side of things: There's hardly super hero stuff, it's more focused on Sue and Reed's relationship and finding a cure. Sure there is a action scene in the beginning, but they were responsible for what happened on the bridge. But somehow they still got famous and people knew what the human torch is a man on fire, despite him not turning into fire in that fight. What we get after that is a nice fun X Games thing with the human torch, alone. You know this movie would've benefited if it had a smaller villain causing trouble. The end is awesome, though it doesn't last long.

The Green Goblin...I mean Dr Doom: Doom is basically being Goblin from Spiderman 2002, only it's not a side effect of the performance inhancers. While it does make sense that he kills his board members after that he's literally an insane man for no reason. Sure Reed screw him over and put him in a bad position with his company, but that's no reason to terrorize the city. Also How come no one notices his scar is getting worse? Or that he's turning metal?

The Good:

This movie may have been just a check list of plot points but at least it's fun and funny at times. Hell it's even comical when it's trying to be serious. They still behave like a family in this movie, just more dysfunctional and it may have been ham fisted in there but atleast Time Story kinda understood them and tried to do a good job. I used to hate the Johnny Storm moments in this movie when I was 15, but now that Chris is Captain America, it's so funny seeing him play another Marvel character that's almost the complete opposite of Cap. And him showing off his powers is the most we're gonna see after the bridge incident and before the climax. I give this movie a 2.5 out of 5 stars.

I still haven't seen the 2015 reboot and I plan not to. Next it's 2007's Rise of The Silver Surfer.

FINALLY watched Shaun of the Dead.

Nice take off on an otherwise tired genre.

I Rewatched 2007's Rise Of The Silver Surfer. When I was 17 I Loved It. Now As An Adult I Think It's Better Than Ok.

It's Problems:

It still has Ham Fisted Plot Points, though they're more planned out this time and they're not as bad as the 1st. Atleast this one didn't feel like a checklist.

I found the Silver Surfer too bland in this movie. His story for destroying planets is very thin. Would've been better if it was mind control. Also if he had the power to destroy Galactus, why didn't he just do that before he went on to kill planets for him? Just get him some distance away from your planet and suicide bomb him like you did in the end scene.

The Army were just dumb idots in this movie. A trope that's been overdone. When explained properly this type of behavior could've been accepted but no we don't get that. Apparently the Commander and Reed have some High School? history and that's all we got for him not liking the team. Oh the heroes fail? You know that happens sometimes that doesn't mean you go trusting Victor Von Doom of all people. He tried to destroy NYC, as soon as he served his purpose she should've been locked away not taken to a weapon of mass destruction.

Von Doom wasn't needed in this movie. He was just in there to create forced tension for plot sakes.

It still relies on Reed and Susan's relationship. Everyone in that movie is literally making a big deal about their wedding. Too bad I don't really care about it. Luckily this is only for the beginning and a bit in the middle and the end.

There are a few minor continuity errors. I can't remember what they are ATM sorry, but they're there.

Also how can Johnny breathe in Space? Is that like a benefit of being the human torch?

The Good.
This movie is way funnier than the 1st. And I'm talking about scenes that were meant to be funny. I never expected to deliberately laugh so much at this movie. There were serious parts where I did laugh ironically as well.

More Hero Stuff than the last. I don't have to explain why this is a positive.

I LOVE the action sequences in this movie. I love the power switching and how affects the 4. I love every scene involving the Surfer while he's flying or fighting. And Johnny having all of their powers, screw logic, that looked bad ass.

In terms of the human, family side of the story, I thought the writing did improve on that part. It's not perfect but it did improve. It was very interesting seeing an extrovert like Johnny deal with having to become an introvert, but on a bigger scale than the previous film. He could've hurt someone and then to deal with the team possibly splitting up. Shows how human Johnny is. Seems as though Tim has a thing for Johnny.

The VFX, though outdated, still kinda holds up for the most part and is better than the last. I can't get over how beautiful the silver surfer looks.

I Give This Movie 3 Out Of 5 Stars.

Honestly I feel that the more Tim Story gets involved with the Fantastic Four the more he gets them. This movie shows that he can grow and know how to do a set characters as time goes by. And I honestly think if he did a 3rd Fantastic Four movie, it would be a Fantastic Four Movie or closest to a good one.
