“A Quiet Place”. Scary, sad, imaginative and beautifully acted. Great movie.

Also; it’s not a movie, but it could be: ‘The End of the Fucking World’. I’m infatuated with it.

In the middle of The Avengers. Pretty damn good so far. For the record, I also saw Thor (did not care for it), and Captain America: The First Avenger (honestly, fairly decent). And since I won't have access to my local library for the next two weeks, I won't get into Phase Two of the MCU until next month (the last days of July at the earliest).

For why I started it, see this post earlier in this thread.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom It was fun. If you go into it with high expectations you didn't read the title. Just relax and rock the dinos.

The wife had not seen Robert Altman’s The Player, so I brought that home, insisting she carefully watch that wonderful unbroken eight-minute-plus tracking shot that opens the film. It was then that I learned with certainty what I have long suspected: My girl’s effective attention span is about three minutes, tops.

This is stupid. They just keep showing people talking through windows. I thought this guy was supposed to be some great director. I could have done that.

Jesus wept.

I guess The Russian Ark is simply out of the question.

Oh, you should.  It’s a gem.

Oh, you should.  It’s a gem.

Does it get better as it goes along?

First episode wasn't bad, but it didn't pull me in either.

A bit too teen-oriënted for me.
(Which is a total bogus-reason concidering some of the stuff I watch. But it felt like it was a show aimed and marketed at teens, and exactly that. Whereas some teen-oriënted shows at least pretend to offersomething deeper.)

It definitely gets better with each episode.  I mean, at the end of the day it is technically a teen romance, but (imo) thematically, it’s dealing with some of the most basic and inescapable aspects of the human experience like intimacy, grief, and the relationship between choices and consequences.  The age of the characters was not something I noticed so much as the story went on.  I think it’s maturely told story, and the stakes are amped up pretty quickly by the end of episode three.  No lazy teen drama tropes or cliches in this one.  This is all just my opinion, Ofc. It could just be that I really like English accents, and I think Alex Lawther is the most weirdly beautiful man on the planet. 😛

In any case, I think you should see it through to episode 4 before you decide to quit on it.
