"The Death of 'Superman Lives': What Happened?"

Behind the scenes look at the Tim Burton/Kevin Smith/ Nic Cage Superman movie that was never made. Interesting and compelling story as to what was happening and the minutia involved in launching a $300,000,000 movie project.

I do note, despite all the comments in the movie about the intense curiosity and potential profitability of the project, I think the odds of it being a disaster were significant. Laughable however, that Warner Bros. took the resources planned for Superman Lives and put them towards Wild Wild West, which, while maybe not a 'BOMB' as Ebert would say, was still a turkey.

I'd say Burton could have made a visually stunning Superman movie with Nic Cage, but the contrivances that were being pooped into the storyline would have made the movie either incomprehensible, or unintentionally funny.

I saw that one a couple of years ago. My takeaway was that if Tony Stark stopped working out and then discovered the joy of carbohydrates, he'd look like Kevin Smith.

I just finished watching The Lady Vanishes (1939).  IMO, this is a very good Hitchcock film: its combination of mystery, psychology, humor, and love is pretty cool.

I just watched the latest Disney movie, Moana. It's not as good as everyone keeps saying it is (at least among the people I know). I did like it considerably more than I liked Frozen, though. In the end I thought it was decent in general, and probably pretty great if you are a kid.

It was also the first time I haven't absolutely hated Dwayne Johnson in a movie. His acting is horrific in every movie except this one. It was alright this time, and that's a big deal coming from me. Maybe he should stick to voice acting.

I've been on an Alfred Hitchcock binge lately.  I watched Saboteur (1942) last night.  For me at least, I enjoyed the idealism that Barry Kane (the innocent protagonist who is on the run) embodied.  I also liked the clash of perspectives between Mr Tobin (one of the leaders of the group of saboteurs who has the well-respected good citizen/man of the community image going for him) and Kane.  I also enjoyed Uncle Philip, bones, and Esmeralda, as IMO, they epitomize people who genuinely want to help others out and make a difference (in their own constructive way) in the world that they live in.

Weird ass movie. Starts as a typical action-thriller. Turns strange at the end.
