The Last Movie You Watched
RE: The Last Movie You Watched
I watched little bit that movie "Circle" and I realized that I need to ask Tom Hanks one question: Why oh why do you still make movies?

So, please, if someone here happens to know him relate this question to him because I must know the answer.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

And The Band Played On so they basically blamed all AIDS epidemic on Ronald Reagan's tax cuts on the rich and enlarging army's budget which made him cut all other government spending - especially medical and scientific research, so doctors had labs without proper equipment and were understaffed.

The second thing they blamed AIDS epidemic was on the whole Christianity's taboo on talking about sex that made the disease impossible to talk in public and therefore doctors were unable to educate and warn people.

I watched "Corbin Nash" a strange film with an Occult Theme which seemed to be something about Demonic Vampires.
The thing that got to me was how it pandered to what evangelical Christians seemed to believe. The Occult elements which the chief protagonist denied initially were there, so far so meh. But then the main demon was a transsexual for no reason other than to demonise transsexuals, the "good guy" would say things like "I don't even know what that was" just after describing the other demon as a man.
Then when the demons explained why they were killing and eating people randomly from the streets. The explanation was one word "evolution", I can see stupid people nodding to this in my minds eye.
I don't know if this film was directly funded by Christians but it sure pandered to the lowest elements of the brand.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

Tinkety Tonk and down with the Nazis.

At work.

A few days ago watched "Overlord".

When your weird science isn't weird or evil enough....... just add Nazis.

In all, a decent enough action/horror flick. Would recommend.

'Tomb Raider', the latest one with Alicia Vikander.

Rather disappointing, in the main - silly plot, not great writing, and logical holes you could throw a large dog through.

That being said, it was refreshing to see an action movie in which the protagonist isn't uber-tough, but just tough enough.

Incubus and succubus were different aspects of one demon IIRC. Not a new idea.

Yup, we were warned about them at school. Part of the Church’s effort to ruin wet dreams.

Before work tonight, I was watching Spirited Away, which is a cute little anime movie by Studio Ghibli about the lighter side of human trafficking.

Not a great lover of watching movies. Rather I love to watch drama a lot. But 'The Life of PI" is really amazing. And it was my last night movie.

The Makioka Sisters

Quote:In 1938 Osaka, the orphaned Makioka sisters look for a husband for their third sister, Yukiko, as the rebellious youngest sister, Taeko, is kept waiting her turn.

They didn't set anything on fire or blow up any cars, but aside from that it was okay. Actually it was a very good movie. My only regret was watching it on DVD instead of Blu-ray. The scenery, sets, and costumes were simply amazing, albeit somewhat underserved by the limitations of DVD technology.
