Apparently, everything.

I feel better about the LOTR films now than I did initially.

Watched them when I got the set on DVD. Sound down, trippin' balls. I'd forgotten how much fun LSD can be. Hehe

That Certain Summer (1972). That "controversial" movie that was the first TV movie portraying homosexuality as normal is, needless to say, underwhelming. I didn't expect any hardcore scenes it's just that the drama is so bland. It's two obviously straight actors keeping their hands in their pockets, walking around, and insinuating that they are a couple while looking like they are ashamed.

They could even make a comedy with this setup: a teenager travels to San Francisco to spend some time with his dad, oblivious that he is gay. When he meets his boyfriend, his dad, who wants to keep his homosexuality a secret to his son, tells him it's just his buddy living with him. When they hold hands during walks, his dad tells him it's because his friend has epilepsy and thus he is holding him so that he doesn't fall. When he catches them showering together, his dad says that they are in California and thus saving water ("We're showering like soldiers"). When he catches them nude in bed, his dad tells him it's so that they don't have to turn on the air conditioner and thus save electricity and that human semen is a very good skin moisturizer that keeps you cool. When he catches his dad groping this guy's ass, he tells him that he is just checking if he has ass cancer. When he catches his dad blowing his boyfriend, he explains that he was giving him a penile Heimlich maneuver because a piece of food stuck in his throat.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The two Alice in Wonderlands and then Sweeny Todd.

Helena is just so adorable, whatever shape her head is.
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Reptile

Quote:Tom Nichols is a hardened New England detective, unflinching in his pursuit of a case where nothing is as it seems and it begins to dismantle the illusions in his own life.

I thought that was Justin Timberlake in the beginning, but I was not certain until I heard his voice. His face has matured a bit, but that dad-bod. Wowza.
