The Last Movie You Watched
RE: The Last Movie You Watched
Le Dîner de Cons (1998), The Dinner Game - a smart guy is trapped in his high-class apartment with an idiot who is ruining his life. As I watched it I realized that it could not be (successfully) remade in the US (as these movies frequently do) because there are no more actors who are short, fat, and bald. The previous generation had a few, like Danny DeVito, Wallace Shawn, Dennis Franz, and Jason Alexander to name a few. And indeed, the movie was remade in the US with Will Ferrell as the idiot, but I don't have to watch even a minute of it to know it's a failure because it needs to be played by a short, fat, and bald actor which there are none anymore.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

"...there are no more actors who are short, fat, and bald."

There are, they just can't get roles.

For the most part.

Currently rewatching Under the Silver Lake. And fuck the infamous Copiale Code that they put in there (and turned out to be a dead end), this is the scene that really unlocks the meaning to the film

Yes, the point is that there is no point. And I love it. And the fact that the song they dance to afterwards is about an incident where a man with an influencing machine delusion attacked Dan Rather over non-existent signals being jammed into his brain just seals the deal.

Commonality rating system proposal.

1 Popcorn
2 Popcorn
3 Popcorn
4 Popcorn
5 Popcorn

Add popcorns for each level. (If I did it like I wanted to there would have been fifteen images, a no-no.)
