I used to have this argument with my ever-so-Christian ex that the world was going to hell in a handbasket: dogs marrying cats, crime rate skyrocketing, teaching evil-lution in schools.

It's part of the sick Christian pathology to want things to be bad as that is what is "prophesized". Come on Israel and nuke them Iranians! Yeah baby!

I wanna be cop. i want to set a better example. i hate reading things like this and i want to show thatbeing a cop means to protect, serve, and contribute to my community. not abuse my powers. i also wanna expose those that do. though where i am the cops i know are awesome guys and would be all over this cop.

LOL, I'm with Min. I think that a 9-5 as a jackboot is going to have a desensitizing effect. You show up day 1 all cheery and bright, by day 6.2k you're ready to shoot the next kid that flashes a foil wrapped sandwich in your general direction.

You know what...maybe that's what we need, service limits. Keep the uniformed officers who respond down to the fresh faced minimum. Works on aircraft carriers...meh.

Wow. Whatever y'all say what you want. I hold high respect for the men and women who serve my community and help uphold justice. I see what they do and how much they sacrifice. I can't speak for all cops. But the ones in my city have been nothing but good men and women working to set a example of serving. They are there helping wherever they can. That's what I want to do. That's what they encourage me to do.

LOL, So do I buddy, but that respect has a constant maintenance cost. Step out of line and it's lost, that's all. "Good men and women" get worn out (our police forces themselves realize this) - I just think we can do better to hedge against that desensitizing effect.
