What they do here in Texas is make get out of the vehicle and then charge you with public intoxication.

I was actually arrested once for sleeping in my truck while intoxicated.
I only had a .04 BAC though so they had to release me.
I guess they prefer people take their chances on the road.
Fucking cops.
That's really stupid.
And they try to tell us that they don't have quotas. Assholes.

Another good thing you should do is put your keys in the glove compartment or, if you're able and willing, tuck them behind one of your wheels (like, literally, outside the car). This lessens the degree to which you are "in control of your vehicle"
