One witness told Asbury Park Press that Seidle hit a police cruiser while running his wife’s car off the road.

“He clips the cop car and then drives into the back of the young girl’s car and then jumps out and starts shooting at her car,” the witness said. “The cop runs out but he doesn’t do anything, and the baby is in the car.”

Trina Poysner said that officers on the scene tried to convince Seidle to drop the weapon.
“Put the gun down,” she recalled them saying. “It’s not worth it.”
“My kids, my kids!” Seidle allegedly yelled back. “I’m not going to see them anymore.”
After an ambulance took the victim away, officers successfully convinced their colleague to surrender his weapon.

The on-going decimation of public defense prevents defense attorneys from conducting “ core functions ,” including factual investigation into the underlying charges. In a lawsuit brought in Washington State, it emerged that publicly appointed defense attorneys were working less than an hour per case, with caseloads of 1,000 misdemeanors per year.

This state of affairs also leads to exorbitant trial delays . Consequently, roughly 500,000 pre-trial detainees sit in jail year after year before being adjudged guilty of any crime. This makes a mockery of the innocent-until-proven-guilty principle so sacred to our system of justice.

That's okay, since the state already knows that those people are guilty.  Just keep them in county jail for a few years, make sure they get three strikes, and since you're going to throw away the key anyway, just call it "time served."  C'mon, serves the guy right for rolling slightly through that stop sign, and then resisting arrest when you call in a tank, a K-9 team and a cavity-search specialist to make sure he hasn't hidden away a dime-bag of low-grade pot somewhere. Also, fuck that guy for being deliberately black-- doesn't he know that entrapment is illegal?
