Atheism and morality
RE: Atheism and morality

They are... from the evidence so far. And if the chair is actually there it was caused by light waves bouncing into your eye which causes a chain reaction, and so on. Or it's all a hologram. Infinite regression, maybe. So what?

BrotherNeto Wrote:Never said gods exist in the same way a theory exists. That was you who made that false equivalency. Now if you are saying god exists as a concept. Fine. A little pointless though. Morality is a concept by definition. Concepts do exist in the minds of the person who came up with them. Existence is a strange thing indeed.

Morals are just certain beliefs/concepts based on observations/sensations. Morality is the culmination of all these morals. So in that way you can equate it with theory as a way of making sense of the observations.

Just babbling nonsense. You said morality exists only in the sense that a theory exists. That is another way of saying 'morality does not exist'. For morality is not a theory, it is the thing a moral theory is about.
For example, someone who said 'god exists only as a theory' is someone who thinks god does not exist.

Anyway, you've fallen below the threshold level of intelligence needed for meaningful debate on this matter. You're fired.

You keep making the same baseless claim and offering nothing more than a feeling as supposed proof.

Because morality instructs and morality's instructions confer reasons for compliance.

Maelstrom You keep making the same baseless claim and offering nothing more than a [i Wrote:feeling[/i] as supposed proof.

No, I provided a deductively valid argument that had a god as a conclusion. So that's the exact opposite of a baseless claim. It is neither a claim or baseless. You are, in other words, as wrong as it is possible to be. Quite an achievement.

Anyway, you are worthy of insults, not reasoned debate. So you're fired too.

Never said it was a theory. Just comparing the two in one thing they have in common. They are concepts made by the human mind. It exists as a product of the mind, our minds. It is your belief that morality exists as the product of a God. There is no reason to think that, yet you continue to think it's a dandy premise.

Way to go on the Ad hominem usage.
Coming from you who continue to just state your premise that morality is an 'instruction', without any evidence, that doesn't mean much.

You are clearly deluded in how you perceive what you type.

You may not have many people left to talk to when you're done dumping chlorox in that well Inigo. You have not presented a logically valid argument, you've presented a non sequitur.

Yes, and moral theories try to explain the beliefs/tendencies people have. These beliefs/tendencies is/are what constitutes morality. Get it? Probably not.
