I've been thinking about this...I think the difference lies in that men are taught not to give a shit about what other people think, whereas women are shown by example to seek advice and consensus...I see women around me all the time saying "Well what do you think?" like they can't trust their own judgment. Men don't do this. They listen if someone offers something, but they don't usually stop and ask.
So women seek to gain a sort of power that vindicates their decisions by judging someone else's advice as inferior.

Ohh i am super aware of that, don't you worry, I just see having kids as something a cisgendered woman's body is made for and mine is not supposed to do that - I actually love when men and women step outside their accepted gender roles and such. Obviously everyone has their own take on this subject though, there are many nurturing men who love the idea of parenthood and plenty of women who do not. But I am neither man nor woman. And the whole pregnancy thing is strictly female and (mostly) women have their bonding experiences over the whole shebang. I just wish those women didn't try to bring me into that, because I am not truly one of them even though I look like it. If anything is unclear please let me know, I don't mean to sound like "this gender always means this behavior" because I hate that shit too :3

Don't feel alone. I am fully woman - mentally (whatever that is) and physically - and I seem to completely lack that urge to have kids. All my nurturing seems to center on our dog and my plants. It's wrong for women to try and tell anyone with tits and a vagina that just because they have the plumbing they must feel the need to use it.

Thanks Summer, I have a strong admiration for women who are able to say "fuck that". And also strong admiration for women who will say "yay kids" for the right reasons.

You can't live life worrying about what others think of your choices. In that way lies madness.

Quote:Over the past 10 years, more than 20,000 American children are believed to have been killed in their own homes by family members. That is nearly four times the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The child maltreatment death rate in the US is triple Canada's and 11 times that of Italy. Millions of children are reported as abused and neglected every year. Killed, eh?
I don't know how many of this number was the result of knowingly murdering their own child, or accidentally.

You can say "either/or" in the case of the religious nuts. Some of them are that ignorant, but you'd think common sense would prevail.

Neglect, on the other hand, I'd say, has nothing to do with being religious or not.

No, neglect doesn't require religion. But "murder" can involve not taking your child to a qualified health facility because you were too busy praying over them to get them the treatment they need.

Yes, I've heard of such things that do occur in America. And I'd say, where else, really?
Perhaps in African countries where people go to see medicine men to get their treatment.
