In your ultimate post your points posed questions all addressed in the previously linked article.

Yes, I asked you for links etc that you may know of to back up your points. You asked me to go do that myself. End of convo.

My ultimate post had no questions - only dismissals with reasons given. And having given those reasons, its not too much to expect you to verify their validity on your own.

I really felt that your dismissals didn't need addressing/ I felt that they didn't challenge what they were responding to, so much so that pointing that out was unnecessary.

Your feelings are irrelevant. If you don't address the dismissals, then they stand. Pretending they were never made doesn't fool anyone.

You wish to engage in pointless repetition. Like I said, your points are already satisfactorily dismissed. You may not think so, and that's your problem. Go read back and see if you can understand why. I'm not going to do the work for you.

Funny don't you think that I did all of the legwork when you refuse to. Then you take issue with me not spoon feeding you even more.

No, The Enlightenment was the basis for the progress of the West. Christianity has always fought progressive thinking and does so to this day.

I bet you think that the U.S. is a "Christian nation". Thinking
Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Quote:There was also the Christian imperialist King Charlemagne.

That was centuries after Clovis, though, although the analogy holds. Charlemagne slaughtered thousands who resisted xtianity. Praise Jebus!

Christianity spawned the enlightenment.

Christianity spawned the enlightenment.

More accurately Protestant reformism, not Christianity per se. After all. The RCC had retarded scientific and technological advancement for generations until schisms became widespread.

But it's a mistake to discount the ideas of Protestantism in furthering secularism and early humanism.

Actually, enlightenment was first sought through Hinduism. And also:

Quote:The Age of Enlightenment (or simply the Enlightenment or Age of Reason) was a cultural movement of intellectuals in the 17th and 18th centuries, which began first in Europe and later in the American colonies. Its purpose was to reform society using reason, challenge ideas grounded in tradition and faith, and advance knowledge through the scientific method.
