What are the best Atheistic Arguments?

RE: What are the best Atheistic Arguments?
The explanation is entirely logical though Rhiz. Are you saying you'd rather not think too? Tongue

That sounds like the world's laziest worldview.

Do you understand how easy the lazy practice of not answering is? That's got to be the easiest thing to do...nothing.

The easy answer is godidit.

My point was that that things have no need for an explaination. Need is something that organisims have. More correctly stated I would like to have an explaination for why things are the way they are but I would like that answer to come from a pragmatic examination of evidence, not just an assertion that points at something for which we have no evidence. Oh, except my belief in souls, I believe that from personal experience. Hi EvF.

Evidence doesn't enter into it Rhiz, only reason.

It might be easy to say "godidit", but it means you have to work hard.

Why did the universe make us wonder why it existed?

Our existence is all the evidence we need - and is certainly more than "no evidence".

Fr0d0,

Must you continue to post that same tired line? I've read most of what you have written about that subject and it is obvious to me that you believe through faith and you claim you have reasons. You haven't laid out your track of reasoning that explains what led you to have faith. I would love it if you would make a post detailing how you, through reason, arrived at your faith in God. PM me if you would rather not go public. I promise I will not share the content of any PM you send me and will keep any responses within the PM format. Trust me, I am only an atheist at this time slice and could change given a good reason.

Thank you,
Rhizo
Ecolox,

We still don't know how or why life began, the fact that we exist only proves that we exist, it does not follow that God exists. Your argument falls on its ear.

Ecolox Wrote:Why did the universe make us wonder why it existed?

I don't know the answer, but it is a good question. I've heard it said that life happened because the universe wanted to see itself.

The Raliens believe that aliens seeded our planet and that is why we are here. Why don't you agree with that?

Scientology teaches that the great overlord Xenu sent rockets strapped with nuclear bombs and filled with people into active volcanos here on Earth, to solve an overpopulation problem on his planets. Why don't you agree with that?

Let us not forget that the Invisible Pink Unicorn(BBHH) actually made this universe(I am only telling you now because I think you are ready Wink ) Why don't you believe in that?

According to the Necronomicon the blind idiot god Azagthoth sits in the center of the universe consuming anything that gets near him while spontaneously creating things that fly away from him if they are lucky. Leviathan was slain and the universe is created from her dead body. Why don't you believe in that?

I could go on, but the list is enormous and I am going from memory. There are plenty of creation myths and the fact that you have chosen one does not add value to it by any measure.

Well it's true Rhiz. I have detailed it in my so called debate with Evie. Nothing secret about it. It's been presented here several times by others, and is entirely logical. I choose not to present the whole thing and just the conclusion. The requirement for empirical evidence however, is entirely fallacial as my sig link clearly proves. From my POV, and I realise it is only that, the atheistic locigal standpoint is getting weaker and weaker. And I always try to give it a fair hearing.

We just need evidence to suit our never-ending curiosity. Our curiosity will grow when new evidence is discovered, and rate of discoveries will increase as our curiosity grows! The origin of the universe is a HUGE step back in time, so finding the real answer will definitely take much time.

I was asked today at school: "If you do not believe in God, then what is point in living?" FSM Grin
My answer was: "Do we need a point to live? Does grass in the yard have a point to live?" Haha, I felt good as a puzzled look came across his face!

Things don't exist for something, they exist because of something.

Also, if God knows everything, then why would he create us knowing we would FAIL (lol), and send chosen people out to be punished for his imperfections? If we are created in the image of God, then God must have had been a human, but we are not all knowing/powerful/loving, and neither can God be.
If he's all loving/powerful/knowing, then he could not allow innocent people to die and for evil to cause things to happen. He either does not love all, does not know about what happened, or knows and just can't do a thing about it. Only 2/3, but not all 3. Since I assume ALL = Infinity, nothing could be inifinity of anything.

Ya'll are awesome! Thanks! Big Grin

Fr0d0,

When did I ask you for evidence? You are confusing me with EvF. I just asked for a clear post detailing your reasoning for your faith in God. For no other reason than my own personal interest. I understand that you might not want to post such a thing out in the open for obvious reasons, which is why I offered the PM option.

Cheers,
Rhizo

Which is what I provided to Evie. Not the red herring evidence. No one COULD EVER provide evidence. Neither CAN YOU suggest any evidence that would be acceptable. That's simple logic too.
