Personally, I think of being gay as creepy and it just seems wrong to me. But why the fuck is it illegal? I don't like it, so I don't have to participate in it. That doesn't mean that I get to force my ideals unto other people just because that is wrong. It's not hurting anyone for one man to fuck another in the ass (as long as it is consensual sex anyway). And don't get me wrong, I have several gay friends. They find me attractive, but I don't find them attractive. It's like not liking someone for their political alignment. Even if you find it stupid, if you can't like him just because he disagrees with you, you are not real friends.

The most honest look at reasons against Gay Marriage
|
The only reason not given that I have heard is that it is a break with the tradition of marriage in our society - one man and one woman.
Why that should matter I do not know. Traditions come and go as far as I can see. There isn't a single other argument that is anything approaching real IMHO. The funniest thing I heard was that it undermines the sanctity of marriage. That came from a colleague of my wife's at a dinner party. He was there with his wife - his third wife and she had been married once before. When I pointed out that as far as I was concerned it was his casual approach to marriage that undermined the value of my marriage rather than the sex of his chosen partner he went rather quiet. The reason they are against gay marriage is because if gay marriage is legal, then it grants more legitimacy to homosexuality, and the homophobes can't allow that to happen. That, and the fact that conservatives realize they're losing their power grip on society. What they don't seem to realize is that keeping gay marriage illegal is not going to make gay people stop being gay. They seem to think that there's still a chance they'll be able to force gays back into the closet, but if gay marriage is allowed then there's no chance of that at all. Now isn't that a scary thought. Forcing gay people to pretend they are straight. I want my partner in my relationship to love me, and to want to have sex with me. And I want him to be happy with me. Forcing someone to pretend to be something they are not will not only hurt them. |
