I thought that was a clever little visual gag: if you look, in the "now" image the old woman had a shitty old tv with rabbit ears. In the future, the old man has what would be a similarly shitty tv for his time; a flat screen.

I assume the younger folks in the last image were watching the same show, just using telepathic relays. Tongue
