A Theist, DeistPaladin:
The sad fact of it is...you guys are right. Let's face it, regardless where our political ideologies lie, all three of us are doing what DePa describes: We hold our noses and tip the glass back.
More clever and intellectually-stimulating debates between left and right leaning individuals happen in the form of Bill O'Reilly and Jon Stewart than anything that happens on fuckin' Capitol Hill. BOTH parties are sick to the teeth of their respective party's inability to do anything other than deadlock themselves in the most immaturely obstinate ways imaginable. They're at a maturity level that rivals Catfish for sheer childishness at this point and neither side is getting anything done.
I think there needs to be more people rallying for independent parties. Or even just plain independents. We've seen grassroots movements do a lot in the last 15, 20 years, ESPECIALLY within the last 10. This isn't some hypothetical shit...it could easily happen if people stopped the lethargic, moping "bawww, nothing will ever change" shit. Dammit, I wish I had some kind of voice that could get around to get people rallying around the idea of espousing independent runners for office...make people elect leaders not based on how much money they can spend on ads, but on how many people turn out to clamor for their election.

We need a grassroots drive for an amendment to our Constitution banning all forms of political advertisement or money spent in an attempt to influence elections. We will replace cash-driven politics and 15 minute soundbytes with the government providing time each week for debates on political issues and substantial discussion of our nation's problems. Said debates and discussions shall be held under oath where knowingly lying is punishable with charges of perjury.
Make that one change and we will see a dramatic shift in American democracy away from moneyed interests and toward rational, open discussions.

Let's see... I'm progressive, minimalistic, value freedom considerably more than security, and have socialistic tendencies.
Of course I disapprove. When will I approve? When a president is elected who fits more than one of these bills

On that point you and I are in complete agreement!
*Pause for shock from everyone*
I suspect you voted for Romney but I also suspect you held your nose the same way I did voting for Obama.
And I also agree this "recovery" has only been for the elites in this country. The Stock Market is through the roof. Corporate profitability is at an all time high. The top 1% are doing very well. Everyday Americans are still suffering.
I need to start a business selling nose plugs for voters. Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor. Yup, seems we're in agreement here DP. Romney certainly wasn't my candidate of choice. But, like you did with Obama, I held my nose and voted for Romney anyway. Looks like we're all getting tired of having the same one of two choices to pick from.

Politically I'm much more of a pragmatist than an idealist. So is Obama. I celebrate incremental progress because I understand the architecture of our government keeps the status quo entrenched. There is no easy road to progress short of a radical restructuring of our entire government. In the meantime, inching the ball forward while preventing those who serve the 1% from pushing us further into serfdom seems worth doing to me.

Depending on pricing, I may just consider one. Who even is up for nomination? It's gotta be soon
