They do not look like they're underfire to me. Or do you not know what a fox hole is? Those guys look like they work 'in the rear with the gear' where people can still afford to deny God. (Note the big High wall behind them and the gate.) Again a base is not a fox hole.

Way to take it literally. I am sure you need a picture of them holding up such a sign while in the middle of battle, right? Cuz that's realistic.

By the way, the soldiers are wearing the shoulder insignia of the Big Red 1. 1st Infantry Division. Which is NOT a support or clerical unit...it is an INFANTRY Division, as in, deployed into active combat zones. Being behind walls, inside a base, is where they typically are stationed in urban operations when not out on patrol or combat operations.

My brother is a an O-3 (Captain) in the 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Battalion. He has completed several additional combat training schools, including Jumpmaster, Military Freefall (AKA HALO/HAHO), Pathfinding, Level C SERE, combat demolitions, Special Operations Diver... He's been serving since late 2002 in active warzones across Iraq and currently Afghanistan. He's battle-scarred and suffering from PTSD from constant combat.

And he's an atheist.

And so was my father...who was ALSO a Captain in the US Army Rangers who served during the Persian Gulf War.

So why don't you do me, and my brother, and the memory of my father a favor, and shut the fuck up before you insult my intelligence and their service any further, huh?

HOORAH!
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

This is truth. The paragons of Christianity do not serve in a combat role. They are unarmed, and considered non-combatants, and not deployed into active combat situations.

Still. The "There are no atheists in foxholes" statement isn't an argument against atheists. It's an argument against foxholes.

They're also DICKs. It was a chaplain who made sure I got busted in rank(for disrespectful behavior) while touring the 'Holy Land'.

It was a Chaplain that thought I needed to try and get back with my ex-wife when she left state with my daughter during a deployment. Sorry, Chappy, but she's history, and this conversation is over.

After I saw a man get his head ripped off by the wing tip of an F-18, the chaplain came down to talk to me. He asked me what I saw, so, I told him. I told him that the man was still gripping his flashlight as he lay on his back in a pool of blood, and described the bloody entrails that occupied the space his head once sat. He looked mortified. He just shook his head, and then asked me if I wanted the day off. I said I was fine, and started out the door to go back to my shop. He stopped me before I went out the door, and made an "ergh..." sound, as if he was gonna say something, but then it escaped him. He just went with "People really aren't supposed to see things like that you know?" I agreed, and left. Not sure what the point of that was.
