Ivy & Maelstrom - that sort of public shaming is abusive, and it's unfortunate that you were put through that. I have a feeling that the purpose for that is less about praying the "sin" out if the "sinner", and more about making an example. Sending a message - "better stay in line if you don't want this to happen to you". Fucking fundies.

I am sorry guys for some of yalls emotional abuses. Sadly, i suffered my own in terms of intellectually questioning leadership of the church (charmastic ones) and my own stances on science at the time. Not to mention my methods of "witnessing". However that is a drop in a bucket compared to some of those cases. Sadly, religion breeds zeal one of which i had my own set of zeal and no telling those I hurt or annoyed. I glad she got the support of her parents, thankfully i had the support of mine when it came to intellectual choices I made. Please note not all religious people are like these, however it is huge in the envangelical community.
I would be a televangelist....but I have too much of a soul.

Quote: Linda Cooper’s public support did not sit well with the church, and she was asked to either publicly denounce her daughter’s lifestyle or leave.
Someone want to tell me again how Christians are pro-family?
Christian apologetics is the art of rolling a dog turd in sugar and selling it as a donut.
