I think this paragraph sums up the Christian mindset quite well. Women are responsible for ensuring good Christian men don't have to live surrounded by temptation. He might as well be advocating that women wear burkas, as the thought process behind that is the same.
I think deep down he fears women having power over men.

I think it's simpler than that. Either:
A) he fears his own reactions to images like that, or
B) he wants you to fear your reactions and by that fear, gain control of you.
