If this is an example of eye for an eye, as John says, then the punishment should be simply to grab hold of the woman's genitalia or breasts or something of that nature in return. That, however, is not the case in this passage.
The question remains: why is this particular law no longer practiced? Why is slavery suddenly wrong? Why are there gay ministers? Dudes. Placing someone in jail for life is punishment. Placing someone in a fiery pit to be attacked by demons is torture. Theists always seem to make the erroneous mistake of comparing god's punishment with that of a parent punishing his child. The major difference is that I do not see parents throwing their children into fiery pits when they misbehave.
