Yeah, and Calvin Johnson is one of the top receivers every year, which are two of the big reasons we don't really resemble the team that just half a decade ago went 2-30 over a two season stretch. When injuries decimate your running game, however, and you are forced to make more pass attempts than any other team in the league, you become really easy to defend against. I'm mildly optimistic that the aquisition of Reggie Bush will help in that respect.
The Lions have been getting consistently better with each season, except for the last one. Hopefully that was just a bump in the road and not a sign of things to come, but I've learned through experience not to get my hopes up.

You know, everyone seems to badmouth the Lions. I'm not going to do that - instead, I'm going to say something positive.
With the divisional realignments, it's awesome that the Lions are positioned to do no worse than 4th place in the NFC North.

That's very uplifting, CD, but it does remind me that the standard for a successful Lions season is whether or not they end up in last place.

You have a point. It's not like they're likely to make the playoffs - or win a post-season game if they do.

Since the Super Bowl era, I can count the number of times they've made the playoffs on my hand, and they have never have never won in the playoffs.
Go team.

Well, I've been a Seahawks fan since they joined the league in the 70s. Except for a run up to the conference title game early on, and the Super Bowl appearance in 2004 their playoff record hasn't exactly been stellar. Not exactly what you hope for. It's painful to see your team suck year after year.
At least now it should be clear to Ryantology where my Steeler-hate comes from.

People that root for teams that actually win can go fuck themselves.

It takes true dedication to be a Giants fan. Sure, if your team sucks all the time your team sucks, it's predictable, big deal. But when your team sucks for decades, then is amazing for decades, then sucks, then is amazing the next year, then sucks the next year, then is amazing, and then sucks the next year....it takes a true fan to stick around.
I regret it every once in a while.

You know what the best thing is about Giants fans? They aren't Jets fans.

Back when I gave a shit about football....about 15 years ago....I was a Giant fan who worked with a lot of Jet fans. The one thing I noted was that Giant fans were a lot more realistic. We assumed the team sucked and were pleasantly surprised when they won a game.
Jet fans always thought they were one short step from world domination and couldn't believe it when they lost. Every Monday they would gather around the water cooler and loudly discuss the latest Jet fiasco. I, I must admit, was little comfort to them. One time I asked, "why does the Jet quarterback throw the ball to the team in the other jersey? Did they draw up the play that way?"
Needless to say that got ugly in a hurry.
