What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Listening to music. Digesting a bagel and wheat thins.

Now I want one! Too bad I'll have to wait until next year. Oh wait... I took pastry arts in tech school. I can make these.

Interesting combination of foods there... did you put the wheat thins between the bagel to make it more crunchy? My kids take potato chips and put them inside of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. They are gross children. They do not get that from me.

Oh, I've heard of the PBJ/chips combo. Sounds OK, but I don't do PBJs too often.

With me, no. Just an everything bagel with pine nut hummus. ranch Wheat Thins on the side.

Sounds interesting. I am deathly allergic to all nuts (my other half doesn't count) so I eat Sunbutter instead. The kids tried it and says it's texture is not the same as peanut butter, but it does taste similar. Expensive stuff though.

Hmmm. That would be interesting. I hate the idea of one food masquerading as another, but that could be good on its own merits. A family friend's daughter has a bad peanut allergy.

Mine extends to all tree nuts, oils, pastes etc. Anything manufactured or processed in a factory that also processes nuts is off limits for me also. Those anaphylactic reactions are nothing to mess with. I carry an Epi pen on me at all times.

Watching my Warriors battle the Clippers. Down by 7 at the half.

I almost moved to Santa Cruz County in '09, which has a D-League affiliate (also the Warriors. Similar logo but with the roller coaster) at Kaiser Permanente Arena.

Go Warriors.

Same for me, but not peanuts.  They're not actually nuts (they're legumes- like beans), however they're often processed with nuts.  I have to be really careful, but life is a lot easier now that most food manufacturers label everything.

Last year, I was in Vegas to see a show at the Cosmopolitan Boulevard Pool (at night, for concerts, they drain the pool and put a stage up at about 6', so everyone has an amazing view- of the band and the strip.  Coolest venue ever).  My sister and I were wandering around the restaurant area in the Cosmo before the show, and we found a tapas bar.  I lurve tapas, and I rarely have to worry because Spanish food is generally nut-free.  But then I saw nuts on the menu.  A lot of nuts.  When I saw "walnut dust" (WTF???) as a topping on a menu item, I said to my sister, "I probably shouldn't even be sitting in this room."  The server came, and I asked her about the nut thing.  She told me she'd ask the chef, but meanwhile, she could get us something to drink.  We both ordered the house sangria.  She came back to tell me that the chef said everything would be fine, but that the sangria had pine nut liqueur in it.  I was a bartender for almost twelve years and I'd never even heard of the crap.  But it was enough to know to get my ass out of there.

That same night, back at the MGM, my hands were crazy dry.  I rubbed the complimentary room lotion into my hands, and five minutes later I looked like a burn victim.  Almond oil in the lotion.  I'm not gonna go into anaphylaxis just for having it on my skin, but it likes to make its mark, that's for sure.
