You think so? What about like a casual dinner place. Slightly fancy, but not suit and jacket? We've been friends for a while and I've wanted to take her on a date forever. I feel like we might be past casual coffee, but you might be right about a dinner reservation, though.

But don't put too much pressure on a first date. There's enough already. Dinner at your favorite place that's casual and drinks afterward.

I can't remember where this verse is from, I think it got removed from canon:

SteelCurtain is right. First adult dates are usually coffee or maybe lunch, so both parties can exit quickly if need be.
But if you know this lady well enough, I suggest doing something you both like together, be that hiking, biking, cooking, gaming, playing tennis, or whatever it is that you have in common. By all means treat her to lunch as part of the process.
A fancy dinner is no more than a way to end up paying for a fancy dinner. It won't make her like you anymore. Or if it does, you don't want her.

Problem with dating in Ohio is everyone has the same damn thing in common: we all work ourselves to death, and that's it. I know everyone in the world does that, but that's all we do. Dinner is like the only thing people think of as a date. Oh shit! I live by a beach now. What about going there for a bit, and then some casual dinner/drinks after? Does that make sense? Doesn't really seem organic, but it's a pretty beach to walk around.

A very fancy picnic on the beach? I see smoked salmon, bread, a couple of good cheeses, apples and/or pears, and very good wine. Cookies to follow. But you might have better ideas. Borrow your Mom's picnic basket and bring a nice blanket.

Seconded (or thirded). Have you spent any time with her yet? If it is a first meet, protect yourself from a really bad time. Casual is best until you know more.
